Evita Revival With Rachel Zegler Locks in Broadway Run Following West End Triumph

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Evita” is getting a Broadway revival following its smashing success on London’s West End. Rachel Zegler has been starring in the show as Eva Perón and will reprise her role in New York City.

While the cast and crew are delighted about the announcement, there will be a few changes when the show reaches the Big Apple.

See what theatergoers can expect and what Rachel Zegler had to say about the Broadway announcement.

Rachel Zegler Will Reprise Her Role in ‘Evita’ on Broadway, With a Few Changes

Tony-winning Jamie Lloyd directed the West End revival of “Evita” and will continue directing the Broadway show, too. He worked alongside creators Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber to bring the show to life again and couldn’t be happier about the success.

“I was completely overwhelmed by the incredible response to ‘Evita’ in London,” Lloyd shared in an official statement.

However, the transition to Broadway will come with a few changes. In London, Rachel Zegler would stand on the theater’s balcony to sing “Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina,” entertaining people outside. Jamie Lloyd and the crew knew that would not be possible in New York City. But they’re exploring creative ideas to bring to the United States instead.

“It is an honor to work with Tim and Andrew, and I’m looking forward to revisiting the production with Rachel, whose stellar performance continues to inspire me,” Lloyd continued. “When we started discussing a New York production, it became apparent that our Palladium staging of ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’ would not be possible. I am really excited to explore a new idea, made especially for Broadway.”

Rachel Zegler is also delighted to star in the show when it comes to the United States.

“Performing Tim Rice and Andrew  Lloyd Webber’s brilliant show in London was a dream come true, but being able to partner once again with Jamie to bring  Evita to  Broadway is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  I can’t wait  to perform for my home, New York City,” the 24-year-old proudly declared in an official statement.

The Actress Won an Olivier Award For Her Starring Role

On April 12, 2026, the Laurence Olivier Awards took place in London. Rachel Zegler took the honor of winning “Best Actress in a Musical for her part in “Evita.”

That week, she that she was still pinching herself on Instagram. In the first photo, she proudly clutches the Olivier award and smiles in disbelief at the camera.

Zegler’s peers and fans alike flooded the comments to congratulate her.

“She keeps on winning!!! 👏👏👏 congrats mama so deserved!” “In the Heights” star Melissa Barrera wrote. Andrew Lloyd Webber simply added a few clapping emojis.

“Genuinely one of the most talented performers of our generation! So well deserved 👏” voice actor Shelby Young added.

Although “Evita” won’t be eligible for the Tonys until it premieres in New York, many already anticipate that Rachel Zegler will win another award for her performance.

Eager theatergoers can expect to see “Evita” arrive on Broadway sometime in 2027.
