‘90s Country Star Is Under the Watchful Eye of a Doctor Following Sudden Show Exit

After abruptly stepping offstage during a recent performance, Mark Chesnutt is reassuring fans that he’s on the mend. The ’90s country favorite revealed he’s currently under his doctor’s care while battling a severe sinus infection that affected his voice and forced him to cut the show short. Now resting at home, the Texas-born hitmaker is focusing on recovery as supporters flood him with prayers and well-wishes.

Country Legend Under Doctor’s Care

Chesnutt posted directly to his Facebook page on Tuesday, February 17, giving fans an update after his latest show was cut short. The “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” singer said he is currently under his doctor’s care as he battles a sinus infection. Mark wrote:

“Hello, friends. Just wanted to let y’all know I’m fighting a pretty bad sinus infection. I’m under my doctor’s care and hope to be feeling better soon. I’m not in the hospital, just resting at home. I want to apologize to all my fans who came to see me last Thursday night in Oxford, Alabama. I tried to make it through the show, but my voice just wasn’t having it. I’m also sorry I couldn’t make Friday night’s show in Augusta, Georgia or Saturday night’s show in Smithfield, North Carolina. We have rescheduled Oxford and Smithfield for next month. I’m looking forward to seeing y’all soon. – MC”

Rescheduled Shows

After his announcement, the dates for those rescheduled shows were made available.

The Smithfield, North Carolina, concert has now been rescheduled for March 29. Meanwhile, the Oxford, Alabama, show will now take place on March 30. The show in Augusta, Georgia, was an annual event, so it will not be rescheduled at this time.

On February 12, Chesnutt was performing at the Oxford Performing Arts Center. He had to exit the stage after just three songs. They postponed the two shows in Augusta and Smithfield shortly afterward.
