Ahead of “Dancing with the Stars” Season 35, there are already several celebrities who have expressed their interest in being a part of the show, including Winter Olympic gold medalist Amber Glenn and actor Simu Liu. But would veteran star Dennis Quaid ever put on his dancing shoes?
Dennis Quaid Shares Thoughts on Joining DWTS
Quaid, who is beloved for his roles in “Parent Trap,” “The Hill,” and “Far from Heaven,” was asked about his willingness to compete on the ABC dance competition in an interview with Parade, published on February 22. “I was glad to be there. It was good. I’m really proud of her. She came in fifth,” Quaid told Parade about supporting Season 34 finalist Elaine Hendrix. She was his “Parent Trap” co-star and when appeared on the show for “Dedication Night” in Week 5, they gave fans a mini “Parent Trap” reunion.
When asked whether he would join DWTS, Quaid told the publication, “I’ve been asked that and asked that and asked that. Baby steps, baby steps. We’ll see. I don’t know. We’ll see.” He has left the door open, which is something his fans will likely be excited about.
The actor also revealed that he has no prior dance experience. The dancing he has done has been “only in the movies.” DWTS fans have been known to prefer contestants who join the show with absolutely no prior dance experience. “I’d get there, it’s like anything else, you work on it non-stop,” Quaid said of learning to dance.
This is not a yes, it is also not a no. Quaid would be an interesting choice for Season 35 if he were asked to compete. But what do we know about Season 35?
What We Know About DWTS Season 35
“Dancing with the Stars” has not publicly announced whether it is renewing the show for Season 35, but based on Season 34’s ratings, it is expected to return. If it does, the show will likely air in September 2026. Last season was exceptional, with a close final between Robert Irwin and professional partner Witney Carson, and influencer Alix Earle and pro Val Chmerkovskiy. Irwin and Carson were ultimately the mirrorball champions.
The co-hosts last season were Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, both of whom did a great job. Judges were Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough. With Hough’s busy schedule these days, including the birth of his daughter and his role on “Extra,” it is unclear if he would sign on again as a judge. There is also no information on returning or new pros.
