A GoFundMe created for the three young sons of “Deadliest Catch” deckhand Todd Morgan Meadows has raised more than $35,000, bringing it closer to its $45,000 goal as the fishing community and fans step up to support his family.
Meadows, 25, appeared on “Deadliest Catch,” the long-running Discovery Channel series that documents the dangerous realities of crab fishing in the Bering Sea.
He died on February 25 while working aboard a vessel in Alaskan waters.
Meadows Tragically Passed Away
The fundraiser describes the devastating loss in deeply personal terms.
“We are heartbroken to share the sudden passing of Todd Morgan Meadows, a beloved 25-year-old father, son, brother and friend, who left us far too soon while doing what he loved — crabbing out on Alaskan waters,” the page reads.
Organizers emphasized that beyond the television cameras and grueling work at sea, Meadows was first and foremost a devoted father.
“He was a determined dad to three amazing little boys who were his entire world. Everything he did was for them — their smiles, their futures, and the memories they will carry with them.”
The GoFundMe Will Help His Children
According to the page, the funds will help cover funeral expenses, provide support for his sons and ease the financial burden facing the family in the months ahead.
“Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward honoring his life and ensuring his boys are cared for in the way he would have wanted,” the message states.
Those unable to give are asked to keep the family in their prayers and “keep his name alive like he wanted.”
Details surrounding Meadows’ passing were confirmed by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Watchstanders at the Arctic District command center in Juneau were notified at 5:05 p.m. local time that a crew member aboard the fishing vessel Aleutian Lady had fallen overboard approximately 170 miles north of Dutch Harbor.
He was recovered roughly 10 minutes later, but “first aid and attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful, and the crew transported the deceased to Dutch Harbor,” a spokesperson said.
Captain Rick Shelford later paid tribute, writing, “Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family. His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away.”
As donations continue to climb, the focus remains on the three boys Meadows worked tirelessly to provide for — a legacy supporters hope will be honored through the outpouring of generosity.
