‘Deadliest Catch’ Star Todd Meadows’ Sister Shares Heartbreaking Tribute Following His Passing

The family of Todd Meadows is grappling with unimaginable loss.

In the wake of the 25-year-old deckhand’s tragic death, his sister, Mackenzie Meadows, shared an emotional statement about the pain their family is enduring.

Meadows’ Heartbreaking Statement

“No words put together can even describe the pain we’re going through and will continue to,” she told Us Weekly on Tuesday, March 3. “His boys will see him through pictures, and we will see him through his boys.”

Todd died on February 25 after falling overboard while filming “Deadliest Catch” off the Alaskan coast.

He was working as a deckhand aboard the Aleutian Lady when he fell overboard during the final days of production on season 22.

A spokesperson for the United States Coast Guard Arctic District confirmed that the agency is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Todd’s bunkmate, Trey John Green III, said in an interview with Us Weekly the crew acted immediately in an effort to save him.

“We did everything we could to save him,” he shared, noting that rescue attempts in the open sea are “no easy task.”

Cameras were rolling when the tragedy occurred. Meadows’ mom, Angela, spoke with TMZ on Wednesday, Mach 4, and stated that she hopes that none of the footage is aired.

“We don’t want to see any footage from the accident and do not want Discovery to air any of that footage or make money off of our son’s death,” she told the outlet. “We hope they only air good things of Todd on that boat.”

Captain Rick Shelford Paid Tribute in a Lengthy Post

Aleutian Lady captain Rick Shelford also paid tribute in a Facebook post on March 2, describing Todd as more than just a crew member.

“We lost our brother, Todd Meadows,” Shelford wrote. “Todd was the newest member of our crew, he quickly became family. His love for fishing and his strong work ethic earned everyone’s respect right away.”

He continued, “His smile was contagious, and the sound of his laughter coming up the wheelhouse stairs or over the deck hailer is something we will carry with us always.”

Beyond his role on television, Todd was a devoted father to three young boys.

A GoFundMe page launched and highlights the profound impact of his loss on the family.

“This unimaginable loss has left his children without their father, his parents without their son, his siblings without their brother and his family broken,” the fundraiser reads.

The campaign aims to support his sons, help cover funeral expenses and ease financial strain in the months ahead.

As of writing, it has raised a little over $42,000.
