‘Euphoria’ Creator Makes Heartwarming Gesture to Eric Dane’s Bereaved Family

After Eric Dane died of ALS on February 19, 2026, a GoFundMe was created by friends of his family. Donations quickly poured in from friends and fans, and one of the latest to contribute was “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson, who gave $27,000 with his wife, Ashley.

Dane starred on edgy teen drama as Cal Jacobs, the father of Jacob Elordi’s character, Nate. People says the actor filmed scenes for the upcoming season 3 of the show less than a year before his death, shortly after announcing his diagnosis in April 2025. “I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to set of Euphoria next week,” the outlet quotes him as saying at the time.

Eric Dane GoFundMe Aims to ‘Provide Stability’ for Family He Left Behind

Dane left behind his wife Rebecca Gayheart, whom he had split from but never divorced, and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia.

The fundraiser, which lists “Friends of the Dane Family” as the organizer, says, “Following his diagnosis, Eric became a passionate spokesperson for the ALS community, using his voice and platform to advocate for fellow patients and to push for greater awareness. Even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease. As his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Eric’s friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs.”

It goes on, “Any contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability during this incredibly difficult time and in the future for Eric’s wonderful daughters. Thank you.”

Eric Dane’s Wife Thanked a Fan for Sharing Donation Link

On February 21, Rebecca Gayheart took to her Instagram Stories to post a flood of memories and photos featuring Dane. She made time to thank a fan who runs a 2000s nostalgia page for sharing the GoFundMe link in their own stories by reposting and writing “Thank you” alongside broken and bandaged heart emojis.

The fan reacted by writing, “Rebecca was one of the first to support my account. Not only was she one of my childhood idols growing up, but she has shown me how wonderful she is as a person. Grateful for the conversations and continued support. We should all show her and her family the same kindness during this difficult time. Please donate if you can. Positivity and good vibes only.”
