Eric Dane has tragically passed away at the age of 53 following a battle with ALS, and one of the show creator’s from one of the actor’s final roles has spoken out.
In a statement to Variety, Euphoria creator Sam Levinson paid tribute to the actor with a heartfelt sentiment.
“I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric. Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift. Eric’s family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing,” Levinson said.
Dane portrayed the father of Jacob Elordi’s character in Levinson’s hit show, and in an interview with Variety in 2025, Dane opened up about this role.
“I’ve always had a profound respect for the craft of acting, but I never considered myself an artist,” he said. “I could never admit it, until I started making ‘Euphoria.’ That’s when I gave myself the allowance to feel like I was an artist.”

Eric Dane’s Family Releases Statement
“With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS,” the statement said (per PEOPLE). “He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.
“Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always.
“Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.”
