Eric Dane’s girlfriend, Janell Shirtcliff, shared a heartfelt tribute to the late actor following his tragic passing at the age of 53 after his battle with ALS. The film director took to Instagram, sharing numerous photos and videos on her story.
Whether it’s the two holding hands, laughing together, or even videos of their adventures, including getting a tattoo, it’s clear they created some incredible memories together. And in the last slide, Shirtcliff included a video of Dane with his daughter.
The two are said to have been dating for years, but made their red carpet debut in 2025.

Rebecca Gayheart and Dane separated in 2018 after 14 years of marriage, but the actress ultimately withdrew the divorce papers one month before the “Grey’s Anatomy” star went public with his ALS diagnosis.
And following his passing on Feb. 19, Gayheart has been sharing many photos and memories with Dane on her Instagram story, while also expressing gratitude for all those who have donated to the GoFundMe that was launched in support of their daughters.
Gayheart posted the link, writing, “Thank you to everyone.”
As of Saturday, Feb. 21 at 12 p.m., the GoFundMe was at $174,633 raised of the $250K goal. Among those donations was $27,000 from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and his wife, Ashley.
Eric Dane’s ‘Last Words’ for His Daughters Revealed
In the months before his death, Dane recorded one final interview, which was filmed for Netflix’s series “Famous Last Words,” and in that, he left a message to his daughters.
“Billie and Georgia, these words are for you,” Dane began. “I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall, we had a blast, didn’t we?”
He then reflected on memories with his daughters, adding that there are “four things I’ve learned from this disease” that he wants to share.
“I hope you won’t just listen to me, I hope you’ll hear me,” Dane continued, going on to talk about how important it is to live in the moment. Next, he emphasized the how important it is to “fall in love.” The third message was to “choose your friends wisely.” And lastly: “fight with every ounce of your being and with dignity.”
“When you face challenges—health or otherwise—fight,” Dane added. “Never give up. Fight until your last breath. This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my spirit.”
“You are my heart. You are my everything. Good night. I love you,” he concluded.
