Lacey Chabert has starred in approximately 40 Hallmark films and continues to learn new things. While she’s admitted she loves Hallmark because it feels like home, it’s also forced her out of her comfort zone repeatedly.
In 2018, she chatted with the “It’s a Wonderful Movie” blog and shared how nervous she was about producing and starring in “Love on Safari.”
“The experience reminded me, though, of the joy found in accomplishing something that requires you to face your fears and push yourself when you know deep down it’s the right thing to do,” she admitted.
In her upcoming Hallmark film, “Lost in Paradise,” she and Ian Harding star as two people marooned on an island. Part of that experience involved not only getting out of her comfort zone but also confronting a longtime fear of snakes.
“When I showed up on set, and there were not one but five snakes. I was counting them the entire time: I’m keeping my eye on all of you,” she told “Good Morning America.” “But I actually faced my fear, and I ended up holding a snake by the end of the day.”
Lacey Chabert Calls Fiji Filming ‘Magical’
Despite the nerve-wracking experience of dealing with the snakes, Chabert took away nothing but positive memories about Fiji, the filming location.
“It was magical,” Lacey Chabert said. “I mean, the most incredible people, so kind, so welcoming. We got there, out of the van, just getting to the hotel, they welcomed us with this ceremony and a song. It was just the kindest people. The first day I showed up on set, we had to climb a rope on the side of a mountain to get to our set. I was like, okay, this is going to be an adventure. But just the most incredible experience.”
The “Celebrations” star posted a behind-the-scenes Instagram video showing the process of climbing the rope. She laughed throughout before asking, “Where’s my trailer?”
“I was so thankful that Hallmark allowed us to make this,” she continued to GMA. “And Ian Harding, my wonderful co-star, I mean, we’re on the beach. It has the heart and the comedy and the romance that everybody wants in a Hallmark movie. But it also has a real sense of adventure. I feel like the scope of it is so big, and we get to take the audience with us on this trip.”
Lacey Chabert Thinks Hallmark Films Offer Hope in Today’s World
One question Chabert often encounters is why people love Hallmark films so much. While people of all walks of life have embraced the network in the past several years, some still look down on its eternal optimism. Chabert wouldn’t have it any other way.
“There’s a guaranteed happy ending,” the “Haul Out the Holly” star said. “And I think now more than ever, to do something that just exemplifies the hope that we can find in community and in relationships with each other. I think it’s a beautiful thing, and I’m honored to be a part of it.”
