Lacey Chabert may be widely known as the “Queen of Hallmark,” but she says the role that matters most happens far from the camera. After building a career that includes more than 40 films with the network, Chabert shared with HELLO! magazine that motherhood has brought a deeper sense of purpose and joy to her life.
Her journey as a parent began in 2016, when she welcomed her daughter, Julia, with her husband, David Nehdar.
GettyChabert’s path with Hallmark started years earlier with the 2010 film “Elevator Girl.” What began as a single project soon turned into a lasting partnership, with dozens of films to her name, including “Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True,” her 45th with the network.
Daughter Julia Is Her Biggest Cheerleader
HallmarkChabert shared that her daughter, Julia, has become one of her biggest supporters, especially in her work.
“She watches Hallmark+ all the time on her own, and if she misses a movie on Saturday night when it’s airing, she will literally look for it on Hallmark+ the next day,” Chabert said.
Julia’s love for her mom’s world extends beyond the screen and into everyday moments.
“She loves going to the Hallmark store. We collect the ornaments. She couldn’t believe I was an ornament last year. That was really fun. Whenever we would go to the store, she would find the boxes of them and put them on the top shelf if they weren’t or make sure they were very visible,” she said.
“She’s such a cheerleader. It is really sweet and warms my heart. She’s also very honest, and can be a little critical sometimes, but I appreciate the feedback, but she’s definitely my biggest cheerleader. And it’s so sweet.”
Chabert Finds Joy in Watching Her Daughter Grow
For Chabert, the heart of motherhood lies in watching her daughter grow with confidence and kindness. “Seeing her accomplish things that I know she’s worked hard for, and seeing her take that pride in herself is something really beautiful for me to witness as her mom,” she said.
She shared that compassion is a value she and her husband gently reinforce every day, shaping how Julia moves through the world.
“And honestly, seeing her be kind to other people. We always tell her like ‘Do your best in school. You don’t have to be perfect, but it is really important to us that you be kind to people.’ When you get that feedback back, whether from a teacher or another parent, that your child has been kind, it just means the world.”
Behind the Scenes, Julia Is Learning the Magic of Filmmaking
GettyChabert also brings her daughter along to the set, offering her a gentle, behind-the-scenes look at the world she has spent years building.
“She loves going to the hair and makeup trailer. She loves hanging out. She’s a bit more shy on set. She kind of likes to just hang back and watch how everything unfolds, but she’s very interested in the whole process,” she shared with Hello.
“She even likes reading some of the scripts and enjoys seeing how it ends up coming to life on screen.”
From cozy movie nights at home to quietly observing on set, Julia is growing up in a world filled with creativity, curiosity, and quiet encouragement, with ‘Hallmark Queen’ and her beloved mom guiding her every step of the way.
