Jonathan Bennett is one of Hallmark Channel’s busiest stars. He not only produces a steady stream of films for the network but also hosts the popular Food Network series “Halloween Wars.” And let’s not forget that he’s the mastermind behind Hallmark’s hit reality show, “Finding Mr. Christmas,” now in its second season.
“Finding Mr. Christmas” is my life’s work,” Jonathan told Tommy Didario on his “I’ve Never Said This Before” podcast. “It’s everything I’ve learned in the 22 years in the industry. I took that and applied it to this.”
HallmarkJonathan has had 88 acting roles, 13 projects he’s produced, four he’s written, and countless instances where he was the host or presenter. So it’s easy to see the truth in his statement. However, it’s still impressive to know that part of the reason he has so much experience is because he’s never, ever said no to a job.
Why Jonathan Bennett Never Says No to a Paycheck
“I’ve never said no to a gig or to a paycheck,” Jonathan told Tommy. “I’ve never said no to a job. And you can look at my IMDb and go, ‘yep, you definitely have not said no, ever, because there are some real turds on there.'”
“But I’ve never said no to opportunity or a connection,” he continued. “Because I love working, and even if the movie’s absolute garbage, I love being on set. And when you’re on set, you never know what you’re gonna learn or who you’re gonna meet. In this business, in this industry, and really life in general, it’s all about relationships.”
“My agent will be like, ‘It’s like $0, and you’re shooting in, like, you know, Muskokee for two months. And you get a hundred bucks, and you have no hotel, you have to sleep on the street,’ and you’re like, ‘Yeah, great, I’m in, let’s do it.’ Like, I’ve never said no to a job.”
Jonathan’s projects vary significantly in terms of ratings. According to Rotten Tomatoes, his lowest-rated film was 2014’s “Authors Anonymous.” With an 84% rating, “Mean Girls” is among his highest-rated films.
Jonathan still keeps in touch with his former “Mean Girls” co-stars, and he’s not afraid to admit that he knows exactly what the plot of the sequel would look like; he’s just waiting for Tina Fey to write it.
Jonathan Bennett Spills Details for the ‘Mean Girls 2’ Movie Everyone Wants
When it comes to making a “Mean Girls 2” with the original cast, “The Groomsmen” star claimed that “99% of the cast is like, let’s go.”
GettyHe also has a strong opinion on his characters’ identity. “I think Aaron would be straight, because I wouldn’t want — you wouldn’t change the narrative of Aaron Samuels because Jonathan Bennett is gay,” he said. “You would keep the narrative of Aaron Samuels because that’s the story.”
He then continued with his thoughts on where the cast would be in a sequel.
“I think he would teach, though, he’d be a teacher,” he continued. “Why don’t we just do the movie everyone wants? We all come back, we’re all teachers. I’m a teacher at the school. The girls are grown up, have their own kids, and now their daughters are coming to school. And it’s managing the parents with the kids in high school.”
