Scott Wolf Shares the ‘Remarkable’ Support He & His Kids Have Received Amid ‘Really Difficult’ Family Crisis

Scott Wolf’s family is in a much better place than it was one year ago, thanks in part to a caring community that “wrapped their arms” around them as a mental health crisis unfolded very publicly for Scott’s wife of nearly 22 years, Kelley Wolf.

Scott, who stars on FOX’s “Doc” and is a Hallmark Channel fan-favorite, opened up to “Whine Down” podcast host Jana Kramer about the situation on April 22, 2026, telling her that despite the “pretty horrific” circumstances, their three kids — sons Jackson, 17, and Miller, 13, and daughter Lucy, 11 — have felt deeply supported by their community and peers.

‘Really, Really Difficult’ Situation Became ‘Bizarre’ with Constant Headlines & Social Media, Scott Wolf Says

Long seen as an ideal Hollywood couple who married after both rising to fame — Scott on the hit 90s show “Party of Five” and Kelley on MTV’s “The Real World” — that perfect couple image crumbled in June 2025, when Kelley announced their impending divorce, writing in a since-deleted Instagram post, “It is with a heavy heart that Scott and I are moving forward with the dissolution of our marriage.”

The next four months presented a whirlwind of challenges, from Kelley’s arrests and involuntary psychiatric holds to Scott being granted restraining orders and physical custody of their children. Social media was abuzz, and news headlines were rampant, but eventually, things calmed down after Kelley entered court-ordered treatment in the fall. The family of five reunited for a day at Universal Studios in February, posting sweet pics that were a huge relief for fans who’d worried about them for months.

Throughout the ordeal, Scott was understandably nervous about what his kids were hearing via social media, he told Kramer on her podcast.

“You know, our family went through a really, really difficult thing this past year, especially, but a little longer than that,” he said. “And it became public, and that’s the first time that we’ve ever really dealt with anything like that.”

Although Scott has been a public figure all of his kids’ lives and their peers would occasionally bring up his acting work, he told Kramer no one had ever publicly dissected their “personal lives” before.

Scott admitted during the interview, “You know, when what was happening with us first got made public, I was … pretty shaken by it, just because, it’s just bizarre to have — you know, things would happen and then it’s in People magazine two days later, and it was wild. And there’s a lot of people at a certain level of celebrity that deal with that far too often, even if it’s not some horrifying thing — it’s just that they went to, you know, Ralph’s.”

Realizing that all the noise might impact his kids was tough, he recalled, “That was, you know, pretty horrific, feeling like they were going to have to be dealing with that.”

Scott Wolf Says He Tried to Communicate All the Time With His Kids About What Was Really Going On

In the thick of the crisis, Scott told Kramer, “To be honest, like, what was going on in our own home was so important to be dealing with and managing the public side of it wasn’t really our focus at all.”

However, it was impossible to escape the headlines and online buzz about their family’s situation. The “A Merry Scottish Christmas” star acknowledged that his kids were “confronted by it,” given that his teens have phones and friends at school started bringing it up.

The key for their family, Scott said, “comes down to communication, because every time, I could sit down with my daughter and say, ‘Hey, this kind of thing might get said and I want you know this is how I feel about it … and I want you to know you’re safe for these reasons, and this is the truth.”

Scott Wolf Praises Local Community for Rallying Around Their Family

During his “Whine Down” podcast interview, Scott gave a shout-out to the countless people who supported their family last year.

“We’re lucky,” Scott noted. “I live in Park City, Utah, and it’s just a beautiful town. It’s a real community … people really kind of wrapped their arms around us and knew that we were going through something hard. And, rather than it being, like, people snickering and you know, looking at us at the market, I just felt like we got a big hug from this place. So that was pretty remarkable.”

Scott noted that he was particularly surprised by the support his kids received from their peers who saw the headlines and buzz on social media.

“For all of the exposure they’re having that horrifies us,” he said of kids and their devices, “they’re also being exposed to, like, layers of life and different experiences, and they’re way more compassionate and empathetic than we were (at those ages), I think. So, rather than kids, you know, making fun of them about what was happening, it was just different. They just really, you know — every kid’s going (or) goes through versions of something hard in their own lives.”

It’s not clear whether Scott and Kelley’s divorce is still moving forward, nor whether she is living with or near her family after moving to a treatment facility in Florida last October.
