King’s Mom Receives Love From the Hallmark Family

“Happy birthday to the greatest woman I know!” King wrote in the caption of her April 28 Instagram post. “My mom and my built in best friend. The one who tells us to drink lemon water like it’s the cure for literally everything, and sends me endless Instagram posts about the importance of sleep… as I’m watching them at 2am. You’re also the first person to show up anytime any of us need anything, no questions asked. We’d all be completely lost without you. Love you forever mama bear.”

“Love you my girl!!!!” King’s mom replied.

King’s “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” co-star Tyler Hynes dropped a simple but sweet, “🎂👑” in the comments.

“Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story,” led by King, became Hallmark’s number one most-watched movie of 2024, according to PEOPLE.

The film was announced in June 2024 as part of the network’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” lineup, which included a new partnership between the Chiefs and Hallmark. It was filmed entirely in Kansas City, Missouri, including the iconic GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. This marked the first time the stadium has been used as a filming location in a Hallmark movie, according to the official Kansas City Chiefs website.

In the film, King plays the role of Alana Higman, who “is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s ‘Fan of the Year’ contest.” Opposite her, Hynes plays Derrick, Director of Fan Engagement, who “is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists,” per the official synopsis on Hallmark Channel.

Since the film’s release, many fans have been asking for a sequel. King and Hynes have both expressed that they’re open to doing another film if the opportunity arose.

“It’s such a rare moment in time with such a rare convergence of cultures and people and brands and the time that we’re in, so I think if that were to materialize, you would have to do it,” Hynes said during an interview with Swooon from December 2024. “Nothing will feel quite like this ever again. Maybe it’ll be different, maybe bigger, maybe better, maybe worse. Who knows? But definitely will never feel like this. I think if there’s a sequel on deck, Ed [Begley Jr.] will have to put up with us again.”

“To get to work with this cast again would be incredible,” King agreed with her co-star. She also called out Ed Begley Jr., who played her grandfather, Paul Higman, in the film. “I adore each and every one of you so, so much. I mean, you know Ed’s my favorite.”
