The season 12 finale of “When Calls the Heart” airs on Sunday, March 22 and Hallmark fans cannot wait to watch it. Heading into the last episode of the season, some intriguing teasers and “When Calls the Heart” spoilers have emerged that will likely have Hearties on the edge of their seats.
Kevin McGarry Filmed a Unique Scene That Pushed Boundaries
“When Calls the Heart” fans may think they know what to expect with the season 12 finale. However, many involved with the show promise there are surprises on the way. Kevin McGarry, who plays Nathan Grant, shared some juicy tidbits with the Heart in Motion podcast.
In a reshared clip posted on Instagram on March 17, McGarry noted, “We did push a boundary…I was a part of it, and it was terrifying.”
McGarry also shared that this particular scene involved a type of “rig” they had never used on the show before. He added that he’s certain Hearties will think it uses green screen, but he promised it was real.
In addition, McGarry said, the scene was something they’ve never done before on “When Calls the Heart.” Apparently, there was a lot of “skepticism about it.”
A lot of people behind the scenes were certain the stunt they planned wouldn’t work. They tried it anyway, and McGarry was proud to say they proved the naysayers wrong.
Erin Krakow Is Confident the Surprise Will Delight Hearties
Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth Thornton, also shared some teasers about the season 12 finale of “When Calls the Heart.”
The WCTH Instagram page shared some highlights from the recent promotional event for “Hope Valley: 1874” via their Instagram Stories. They talked with Krakow, who referenced something “Really, really epic” in the finale.
She added it was something they’ve never done before, in a location they have never previously used. Krakow teased, “I think it’s going to delight and amaze.”
All of these teases almost certainly tie to Nathan’s highly-anticipated proposal to Elizabeth. It seems that in that big moment, Nathan approaches it in an unusual way that will get everybody talking.
Showrunner Joy Gregory also talked about this big event in the March 16 episode of the “Heart in Motion” podcast.
She explained that one big concern in trying to pull off what they planned was the unpredictability of the weather during filming. “We just were not sure it was going to work,” she recalled.
However, on the day filming was scheduled, Krakow sent Gregory a photo from the set showing the weather. Gregory shared, “I gasped when I saw it and felt like, ‘Wow, providence has blessed this moment.’ So, I’ll leave it at that.”
Will this surprise leave Hearties amazed and delighted? While the Nathan and Elizabeth engagement is expected to be a big part of the season 12 “When Calls the Heart” finale, Gregory promised that there are big moments coming for other characters, as well.
Gregory teased one “When Calls the Heart” spoiler tied to someone other than Elizabeth or Nathan. She noted, “Lucas’ journey might surprise fans the most…There’s some detail about what might feel inevitable right now that’s going to go further than you’re expecting.”
The “When Calls the Heart” season 12 finale airs at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central.
