Chip and Joanna Gaines have captivated audiences once again with their newest series, “Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House.” The HGTV couple purchased a stunning vacation home in Colorado for their family’s annual getaways.
Where Is Chip and Joanna’s ‘Colorado Mountain House’?
The Magnolia Network owners purchased their gorgeous mountain escape in Pitkin County, outside of the popular tourist destination, Aspen.
“Obviously the farm will always be out central place. But the thing that we have loved as a family is skiing,” Joanna explained during the December 9 premiere episode. “We started skiing, I think, in 2016 with the family. And now, every year we’ve gone back to the mountains.”
She continued, “Every time we go to the mountains, Chip has always peeled out one day where we go look at real estate just for fun. Chip’s dream has always been a perch high on the mountain with a view all around.”
Chip discovered the perfect home for their large family.
“It’s been on the market for a while. It feels like the timing is really right for me to potentially make a really good deal on this property,” he said.
How Much Did Chip and Joanna Pay for the ‘Colorado Mountain House’?
According to The Denver Post, the Waco, Texas-based couple purchased the 3,662-square-foot woodsy abode for $5.5 million in November 2024.
“Situated on a heavily wooded, private 2-acre setting above the Roaring Fork River. The property is centered around a 3662-square-foot main home,” the property listing reveals. “Highlights include generous river-facing decks perfect for entertaining and outdoor living. The country kitchen and adjoining wood-burning fireplace are the heart and gathering spot of the home.”
“A winding trail along the stream brings you to your own streamside refuge. Perfect for relaxing, fishing or entertaining on 115 feet of private Roaring Fork River frontage.”
The adjacent cottages measure 680 square feet and 373 square feet, the smaller of which the couple has let eldest daughter Ella Gaines take the reins on redesigning.
Ella Gaines Makes Her ‘Fixer Upper’ Debut
Fans have watched as Joanna has walked her eldest daughter through her first major project, calling it a “full-circle moment.”
According to Jo, she and Ella—who is currently a student at New York City’s Parsons School of Design—are “very similar in [their] styles.”
“We both love plants, we love charming, cottagey things, we love story,” Joanna said during the December 9 premiere. “So my biggest hope with letting her tackle this cottage is that it builds confidence in her.”
She continued, “The idea that my daughter, who is now an adult, has decided to take on what her mother does, and I get to teach her—I don’t know, it just feels like this beautiful full circle moment.”
