HGTV Series Returns After 8-Month Break With Surprise New Episodes

Is HGTV pulling a fast one? Perhaps, but in the best way possible. After quietly disappearing for months, “House Hunters Australia” is officially making a comeback, and yep, you read that right, it’s happening with very little warning.

The international spinoff first kicked off back on May 11, 2025, and wrapped what we thought was its full run on July 18, 2025. Since then? Radio silence. No updates, no renewal buzz, nothing. So naturally, fans assumed Season 1 had come and gone.

But now, out of nowhere, the series is back on the schedule; and bringing new episodes with it.

A Surprise Return No One Saw Coming

According to TV Insider, “House Hunters Australia” will return on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 10:30pm ET, with a brand-new episode titled “Opposites Down Under.” Even more surprising? The episode is being labeled as the 21st installment of Season 1, meaning the season is continuing rather than launching a second chapter.

Let’s be real; that’s not exactly the standard rollout. And there’s currently no official explanation from HGTV about why the show was pulled off the air in the first place or why it’s suddenly popping back up now. And if you’re hoping for a full slate of new episodes… well, not so fast.

So far, only two additional episodes have been confirmed. With episode 22, “Cross That Bridge,” set to air on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at 10:00pm ET. After that, the schedule goes quiet again. No announcements, no teasers, no “stay tuned” promises. Just vibes and a couple of fresh house hunts.

Some more good news? Canadian network CityTV’s streaming platform, CityTV+, has also picked up the series and even teased the return on Instagram earlier this month, confirming the March 31 date for viewers in that area looking to stream it.

‘House Hunters Australia’ is Still Worth the Watch

Even with the mystery surrounding its return, fans of the franchise have a solid reason to tune back in. “House Hunters Australia” brings that same addictive, low-stakes decision-making energy the original is known for; but with a scenic twist.

We’re talking dreamy coastal properties, unique architecture, and that unmistakable Aussie charm.

And of course, the series is still led by Australian journalist, Georgie Tunny, whose hosting style keeps things grounded, engaging, and easy to follow. If you enjoyed the first batch of episodes, it seems like this continuation will slide right back into your rotation without missing a beat.

At the end of the day, sure, the rollout is a little confusing. But honestly? More “House Hunters” is never a bad thing.

Whether HGTV’s schedule is testing the waters or just spacing things out in a way that keeps us guessing, fans get at least two more chances to escape into the Australian real estate market; and we’re here for it.

Because sometimes, all you really need is a couple debating open floor plans in a completely different hemisphere.
