Popular HGTV star Jenny Marrs says her husband and “Farmhouse Fixer” co-star Dave Marrs is not only her “biggest cheerleader,” but also her “best critic.”
In an interview with Country Living published on October 7, 2025, Jenny discussed the process of writing her newest book, “Trust God, Love People,” and how involved her hubby was throughout — and how she trusted him to point out the good and the bad.
Jenny Marrs Says Dave Marrs Ensured She Had Time to Write Every Day
The Marrs celebrated their 20th anniversary in April and are raising their five kids in a renovated farmhouse in Bentonville, Arkansas. They’ve weathered high highs, including the success of their show, and low lows, like the recent loss of his mom. But they’ve always encouraged each other to follow their passions.
“He’s been so supportive,” Jenny told Country Living of Dave’s involvement in her latest book writing process. “He knows writing is something I’ve always loved. With this book especially — it’s so personal — he gave me space to write and encouraged me every step of the way.”
“He even read early drafts and gave notes,” Jenny continued. “Sometimes he’d say, ‘This part doesn’t make sense,’ and I’d argue with him — then realize he was right. He’s my best critic and my biggest cheerleader.”
Jenny Marrs Celebrates Book Launch With ‘Perfect’ Day
Jenny celebrated the publication day for her book on October 8 with a special local event, and also has book tour stops planned in several cities over the next week.
She called her launch day “perfect” on social media, noting that in addition to her book signing, she got to live her regular mom life, writing, “Carline, homework and a few moments of quiet on the back porch. An honest review from my little cheerleader: ‘it was actually good … I thought it was going to be boring’ 😂. And, a ‘fancy’ dinner with just me, Dave and the kids. A table surrounded by my greatest blessings in life. The ones I wrote this book for to begin with. 🤍”
In “Trust God, Love People,” Jenny tells personal stories about how faith has played such a huge role in the ups and downs of her life. To write it amid her busy life as a mom, wife, and HGTV star, she wrote in another social media post that she “carved out an hour here and a Saturday morning there. I prayed each time I sat in the chair, beseeching the Lord for the words and for discernment over which stories to share.”
Noting that she sometimes doubted whether she should share certain aspects of her life, she wrote, “Sometimes, the stories came out in a torrent and, often times, I simply stared at the tauntingly blank screen. I wanted to give up, delete the whole thing, and tell my publisher ‘Nevermind’ no less than a hundred times. I questioned why anyone would want to read these words, these stories.”
“Yet, I deeply believe we all have a story to share,” she concluded. “I believe there’s so much value in being vulnerable with our sojourn on this earth. When we share and, most importantly, when we listen, we can learn, grow, be inspired, and be encouraged. Sometimes, that small spark of hope within our souls can even be ignited by someone else’s story. That’s my prayer for this book: May it ignite Hope. ✨”
