Chip and Joanna Gaines’ daughter Ella put her design talents to work on “Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House.” Before the big reveal, the HGTV star shares “what a gift” it is to see her daughter’s vision become a reality.
Joanna Gaines Shares Proud Mom Moment as Daughter Ella Completes Design Project
On December 23, Joanna took to Instagram to share a clip from the final episode of “Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain House.”
“What a gift it was to watch Ella’s vision for the small cottage come to life,” she wrote in the caption. “Watching her reveal it to Crew made it one we’ll never forget!”
Joanna added, “Catch the season finale of #FixerUpper: Colorado Mountain House on tonight at 9p ET on @magnolianetwork and @hgtv! Streaming same day on @hbomax and @discoveryplus!”
In the clip, Joanna noted, “Chip has always told Ella, ‘Hey, before you go to college, I want you to flip a house, do a project.”
The HGTV star continued, “She’s always mentioned that she wants to do something in design.”
“We’ve actually looked for houses in Waco, didn’t find anything,” Joanna noted. “But Chip had this fun idea to let her tackle the little cottage as her first design project.”
Joanna stood outside the front door with their youngest son, and asked him, “Are you ready to see your little Fixer Upper?”
“So cute,” Joanna gushed after Crew ran in.
Chip and Joanna watched through the window. “This is like the perfect size for both of them,” Joanna remarked. “Probably my favorite reveal ever.”

The comments section lit up with messages from fans who were excited to see what Ella designed.
Her biggest fan — her dad — commented, “My baby girl … all grown up.”

In a November 2025 Magnolia Journal blog post, Joanna shared how special it was for them to include their daughter.
“Over the past few years, Ella has really come into her own when it comes to developing her own personal style. I love her eye, so I asked her to design the small cottage adjacent to the main house,” Joanna shared.
She added, “It was so sweet to share this experience with her before she went off to college.”
