Tom Holland could be headed for one of the biggest paydays of his career following the massive success of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
Holland, 30, reportedly received a base salary of at least $20 million to reprise his role as Peter Parker in his fourth solo “Spider-Man” movie, according to The Wrap. Multiple sources familiar with his deal with Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios told the outlet that his contract also includes potentially lucrative backend bonuses.
Those bonuses could ultimately push Holland’s earnings from the movie beyond $100 million.
“He will make at least” $100 million, one source told the outlet.
Perhaps more significantly, Holland’s backend bonus reportedly has no cap. That means his final compensation could continue climbing depending on the film’s financial performance.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” debuted in theaters on July 31 and quickly became a major box office success.
Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man’ Deal Reportedly Includes Uncapped Bonuses
Holland’s reported $20 million base salary represents a significant increase from what he earned for his previous solo outing as Spider-Man.
The actor received approximately $10 million for 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” according to The Wrap, making his reported “Brand New Day” upfront salary roughly double that figure.
Holland’s backend arrangement, however, could account for most of his eventual payday.
The reported deal comes as the actor continues to balance the Marvel franchise with other major projects. Holland plays Telemachus in Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” for which he reportedly received $10 million.
Holland was reportedly among a few of the younger actors who accepted a discounted salary to join Nolan’s epic ensemble, which also includes his wife, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson.
His latest “Spider-Man” movie has already delivered a significant box-office contrast.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Crosses Massive $2 Billion Milestone
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” opened with a record $360 million domestic debut and has continued climbing since its July 31 release, according to Variety.
The movie passed $1 billion worldwide after only six days in theaters, then became the second-fastest film ever to cross $2 billion worldwide.
The milestone puts “Brand New Day” in a small group of movies that have reached $2 billion at the global box office.
Other members of the $2 billion club include “Titanic,” “Avatar,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame,” “Avatar: The Way of Water” and “Ne Zha 2.”
“Brand New Day” is also chasing the domestic box office record held by “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” To reach the top spot, Holland’s latest movie would also need to pass the domestic totals of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Avengers: Endgame.”
