Jenny McCarthy Recalls Scary Freak Accident While Filming MTV Show

Jenny McCarthy is one of the most talked-about entertainment personalities of all time. Recently, the “Masked Singer” judge reacted to her former television home, MTV, shutting down its 24-hour music channels with a story of a near-freak accident.

TMZ recently caught up with McCarthy and asked for her thoughts on the changes at MTV. The “Masked Singer” said, “Isn’t that sad? I’m still mourning the loss of it. It gave me my start, and it was really the place that allowed me to be myself the most out of any job I’ve done so far.”

The interviewer then highlighted McCarthy’s role in MTV’s legacy and asked if she had any memories to share.

According to her, “On the first day of shooting ‘Singled Out’ – I lit my hotel room on fire and almost died the night before. So that was my very first taping of ‘Singled Out.’ I accidentally left a candle on, and it burned through my hot rollers. It lit the whole room on fire. Thank God I’m still here.”

MTV launched “Singled Out,” which was a dating show, in 1995. McCarthy hosted the series with Chris Hardwick. She left in 1997 to star in her show, “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” with Carmen Electra replacing her until the series ended in 1998.

Jenny McCarthy Recently Opened Up About ‘The View’

“The View” has been home to several hosts over the years. This includes McCarthy, who joined as a cohost in 2013, replacing Elisabeth Hasselbeck. She appeared on the daytime talk show alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, and the late Barbara Walters for only one season.

She recently spoke to US Weekly about whether she’d ever return. McCarthy said, “They’ve asked me to come back for, like, reunion shows. I was like, over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place.” She went on to say they hired her because the show was “too polarizing.”

McCarthy also stated that the producers wanted her to provide “light and fluffy and fun” aspects to the show. The former “View” host continued, “Well, that lasted a week. Back then, I didn’t consider myself to be a political person, which is why I thought I was perfect for the job.”

The Masked Singer is Set to Return

“The Masked Singer” premiered on Fox in 2019. Since then, it has become one of the biggest competition reality shows. McCarthy has been a judge on the series since it premiered, as have Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke. Rita Ora also frequently appears as a guest judge.

Season 14 of “The Masked Singer” is set to premiere on January 7. According to Parade, the season includes 18 new costumes. They include 12 Karat Carrot, Calla Lily, Cat Witch, Crane, Eggplant, and several others.
