Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino Eyes Run for New Jersey Governor

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino may be setting his sights on a new chapter far beyond reality television.

The “Jersey Shore” star revealed that a future run for New Jersey governor could be in the cards while attending the VUE Magazine spring edition party in Wall Township, New Jersey, on May 29. According to News 12, Sorrentino said politics is part of his long-term vision after he focuses on expanding his addiction recovery business, Archangel Centers.

Sorrentino and his wife, Lauren, were featured on the cover of VUE Magazine, where they reflected on their personal and professional growth. During the event, the reality star spoke about the importance of self-improvement and maintaining a positive mindset.

“As husband and wife, we like to be on the path of self-improvement which is mentally, physically, spiritually, personally and professionally,” Sorrentino said. “Any negativity we like to get rid of and that is a lifelong journey that we love to be on.”

According to the outlet, Sorrentino said he is currently putting his reality television career on pause while focusing on growing his recovery business before potentially entering politics.

Mike Says His Focus Remains on Recovery and Treatment Centers

Before any political campaign begins, Sorrentino said he wants to continue helping people struggling with addiction and mental health challenges through Archangel Centers.

According to Us Weekly, the reality star hopes to eventually expand the treatment centers nationwide.

“I’d like to save lives for the next three to five years, with Archangel centers,” Sorrentino said. “I’d like to have an Archangels center in every 50 states, and after that, you know, I will introduce everybody to Governor Situation.”

The goal is especially personal for Sorrentino, who has been open about his own recovery journey. The reality star, who has been sober since 2015, previously launched Archangel Centers in 2024 after overcoming years of addiction struggles and legal setbacks.

At the time, he described himself as “living proof that the comeback is always greater than the setback,” noting that he had rebuilt his life through sobriety, marriage and fatherhood.

Per Parade, Sorrentino celebrated the grand opening of an Archangel Centers facility in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, in November 2025. He called the center a “full circle” moment and described it as “a mission, a promise, a safe place” for individuals battling addiction and mental health challenges.

VUE Magazine founder Jason Underberg also praised Sorrentino’s transformation, calling it one of the greatest comeback stories and saying it aligned with the publication’s mission of highlighting inspiring success stories.

While Sorrentino stopped short of announcing an official campaign, he appeared serious about eventually pursuing public office.

When asked whether he would run as a Republican or Democrat, Sorrentino declined to reveal a political affiliation. However, he joked that New Jersey residents would probably support eliminating property taxes, according to Us Weekly.

If he ultimately decides to run, Sorrentino would join a growing list of reality television personalities who have explored careers in politics.

As previously reported, former “The Hills” star Spencer Pratt announced his campaign for mayor of Los Angeles in January 2026. Pratt said he was inspired to run after losing his Pacific Palisades home in the California wildfires and has centered his campaign on issues including public safety, homelessness and wildfire preparedness.

For now, though, Sorrentino appears focused on recovery advocacy rather than campaigning. His immediate goal remains expanding Archangel Centers and helping others navigate addiction recovery before making any move toward public office.

“I’d like to save lives for the next three to five years, with Archangel centers,” Sorrentino said. “After that, you know, I will introduce everybody to Governor Situation.”
