The music industry is keeping legend Clive Davis in its thoughts as reports have surfaced that he has been hospitalized. Davis, who is 94, is the music producer and executive known for helping craft the careers of legendary acts such as Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Kelly Clarkson, Monica, and many others.
A spokesperson confirmed the news to TMZ on the night of May 29. They stated that Davis was admitted to a hospital in New York City and that he’s suffering from an upper respiratory infection. According to the spokesperson, he was admitted to the hospital as a precaution.
Davis is expected to be released from the hospital within the next 24 hours.
Clive Davis Also Opened Up About His Health in 2021

Despite his fame, he remains fairly private about his personal life. In fact, not much was known until his 2013 memoir, “The Soundtrack of My Life.”
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the music legend was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy in 2021. This came ahead of his legendary Grammy Gala, forcing him to postpone the highly anticipated event.
Davis’ representative at the time, Sean Cassidy, said in a statement, “He’s being treated with antibiotics and is expected to make a full recovery in six to eight weeks, at which point, he plans to host the second installment of his virtual pre-Grammy gala. Clive is obviously disappointed to delay the evening as it’s shaping up to be as big as the first. However, he feels great otherwise and is looking forward to the May event.”
For context, Bell’s Palsy is a condition that primarily affects the facial muscles, weakening them. Often, it makes one side of a person’s face droop. The condition is often resolved on its own; however, doctors can prescribe various treatments.
Regarding Davis, the Grammy Gala was originally scheduled for March 13, 2021. However, after being postponed, he held it two days later.
Clive Recently Hosted A 3-Day Memorial Weekend Party
GettyDavis isn’t only known for throwing lavish parties during Grammy weekend. This is especially the case because, according to Hello Magazine, the music icon recently threw a three-day Memorial Day weekend party. Per the outlet, he welcomed guests to his Pound Ridge, New York, vacation home.
The multi-million dollar New York home has hosted legends such as Houston and Joan Rivers. The home sits on 17 acres of property and includes a tennis court, two pools, and a theater.
Designer Andy Yu shared footage of the party on Instagram. He said in a post, “Clive Davis 2th day party called for pink, so I made something quickly. The dinner was filled with some of the most creative minds — every person next to you was a singer, music producer, artist, and beyond. One of the most interesting guest lists imaginable, and the night still went until 2 Am ish ? all hosted by a 94-year-old American music legend. What a honor…”
