Dolly Parton has been laid to rest beside her beloved late husband, Carl Dean, following a private ceremony attended by those who loved her most. Her niece, Lainey Mae Parton, confirmed the burial in an emotional Instagram post on Saturday, August 29.
Dolly, 80, died on Tuesday, August 25, after what her family described as a “brief battle” with an unspecified cancer, People reported later that day after the news of her death became public.
“This is a really hard post for me to make,” Lainey wrote alongside a collection of family photographs. “I wanted to wait until after my granny was laid to rest yesterday before I tried to put any of this into words.”

Page Six reported that Dolly’s family gathered at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville on Friday, August 28.
A source told the outlet that Dolly’s nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, oversaw the arrangements.
The insider described the funeral as “a very simple ceremony” because “that’s all Dolly wanted.”
Dolly was laid to rest beside Carl Dean, her husband of nearly six decades. Carl was 82 when he died in March 2025.
The private couple shared 58 years of marriage after meeting outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat on Dolly’s first day in Nashville. She was 18, and Carl was 21.

In her tribute, Lainey reflected on the close relationship Dolly shared with her younger family members. Her nieces and nephews affectionately knew her as “Aunt Granny.”
“Because she couldn’t have kids of her own, she always made us feel like we were hers,” Lainey wrote. “She loved us that way, and I’ll forever be grateful for that.”
Lainey said she could not recall a single bad memory involving her aunt.

“When I told her I wanted to go to beauty school, she never questioned why I wasn’t going to college,” Lainey wrote. “She told me she couldn’t see me doing anything else. She financially supported me through school and helped me get my career started. She didn’t just tell me to chase my dreams, she helped me get there.”
