Doechii Sparks Online ‘Cat Fight’ After Surprising Admission

Grammy-winning rapper Doechii sparked a round of online debates this week when she took to Threads to express her dislike for cats.

Known for her outspoken personality and bold takes, the 27-year-old made it clear she’s not a fan of the common house pet — leading many to open up a dialogue on the topic.

Doechii vs. Cat Owners

“People act like it’s a crime to dislike cats when they genuinely aren’t friendly animals,” the “Anxiety” artist wrote on Monday, March 2.

“They don’t wanna be domestic just leave em alone,” she continued. “Like it’s not organic I’m sorrryyy be fr it’s rare that cats are immediately lovey without years of pain and work put in. yall be scratched and beat [expletive] up by your own animals I can’t lmaoooo.”

As expected, cat lovers quickly entered the chat.

One Threads user clapped back with research, writing: “Psychology suggests that people who don’t like cats have a need to be in control, are rigid thinkers, lack patience, and struggle with consent.” Another defended the self-proclaimed “Swamp Princess,” commenting that “people go full mental when someone goes against something they care about. If you don’t like cats, dogs, kids, marriage, Kanye… okay, so [expletive] what?”

She Doubled Down With a Meme

Doechii followed up with a nostalgic clip of reality TV icon Tiffany Pollard being booed and pelted with objects during the 2006 “Flavor of Love” reunion. She captioned the post. “Me vs Cat owners.”

In response, a third Threads user quipped, “Maybe cats just don’t like you,” to which Doechii replied, “It’s mutual.”

Another commenter suggested that she did not need to justify her disdain for cats with “misconceptions.” Doechii responded, “I did! And they aren’t misconceptions, these are most definitely true and happen [every day] you CANNOT trick me. If I tell a cat owner to lift [their] arm sleeve [right now] they’ll be [torn] up.”

The Bigger Cat Conversation

The famed rapper’s stance isn’t exactly new territory. Cats have long been stereotyped as aloof, cold, or unfriendly. However, animal welfare organizations like American Humane Society note that many of those perceptions are myths. Experts say cats are capable of forming strong bonds with their humans, can be trained, and often show affection — just in ways that may differ from dogs.

Still, Doechii made it clear she’s not trying to convert anyone. “As long as you and your cat are good that should be all that matters at the end of the day!” she reassured followers.
