Ed Sheeran is offering a reassuring update about his wife, Cherry Seaborn, following her private battle with cancer.
During a recent appearance on the “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast, Sheeran revealed that Seaborn is now doing well after undergoing treatment.
During the interview, Sheeran was asked about what was the worst day of his life.
Sheeran Recalled the Moment He Found Out Cherry Had Cancer
“Cherry rang me up and said she had cancer,” Sheeran told the hosts. “That was probably the worst day.”
He added, “Probably the worst week [of my life], because Jamal died that week as well and then we went straight into the court case. And then Shane died.”
One of the hosts asked how she was doing now.
“She’s fine,” Sheeran noted. “She had the operation — she was pregnant at the time — that was why it was difficult. She had the operation to remove the tumor after she’d given birth to our second child, and thankfully [she’s] totally fine.”
The couple first spoke publicly about her diagnosis in 2023, though the health scare actually began the year before.
Seaborn was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 while pregnant with the couple’s second child, daughter Jupiter.
Because of the pregnancy, doctors were unable to begin certain treatments immediately, which made the situation even more stressful for the family at the time.
The couple largely kept the diagnosis private until it was later discussed in the Disney+ documentary series “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All,” which premiered in May 2023.
In the emotional series, both Sheeran and Seaborn reflected on the difficult period and how it affected their lives behind the scenes.
The experience came during an already busy time for the musician, who was juggling global touring, new music releases and family life.
The Two Have Known Each Other Since They Were Teenagers
Despite the challenges, Sheeran has often spoken about how important Seaborn has been throughout his life and career.
In the documentary’s trailer, the singer shared just how much she changed things for him.
“Everything in my life got so much better when Cherry got into it,” he said.
Sheeran and Seaborn’s relationship goes back many years.
The two first met as teenagers while attending school in England, though their romantic relationship didn’t begin until years later when they reconnected as adults.
In December 2018, Sheeran and Seaborn secretly got married during an intimate ceremony with only 40 guests.
