Iconic Guitarist Brian May Reveals Why Queen Won’t Tour the US Again

The legendary Queen lead guitarist Sir Brian May has revealed why his band will never tour the United States again.

In what might come as a shock to the music world, May, 78, spoke to the Daily Mail to cite his and his fellow bandmates’ reasons behind the revelation.

Only recently, May’s wife, actress and singer Anita Dobson, 76, revealed the band would no longer be participating in large scale tours. Dobson said that was due to health issues and the fact they were “getting old.”

However, while tours in general haven’t been ruled out completely, May has said Queen won’t be crossing the Atlantic any more.

Brian May Claims the USA Is ‘Dangerous’

Brian May told the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden, “America is a dangerous place at the moment, so you have to take that into account.”

He continued, stressing that he loves the country, but believes it’s not the same as it used to be. May said, “It’s very sad because I feel like Queen grew up in America and we love it, but it’s not what it was. Everyone is thinking twice about going there at the moment.”

May is undoubtedly referring to his perception of the United States under president Donald Trump. The guitarist believes Trump is a “dangerous man,” he said on Good Morning Britain in 2016. He previously requested Trump stopped using Queen’s songs at his rallies, according to the outlet.

But America isn’t the only place May says Queen won’t be performing at. He also says they have no intention of appearing at popular British music festival Glastonbury. That’s due to their political opinions differing with the organizers of the event.

May told Daily Mail, “I wouldn’t do Glastonbury next year because of the politics of the people who run it. Unless that changes, I won’t do it.”

He added, “They like killing badgers, and they think it’s for sport and that’s something I cannot support because we’ve been trying to save these badgers for years, and they are still being killed for years, so that’s the reason we’re missing out on it.”

Queen Are Still Active

Per Queen’s official website, the group currently have no upcoming shows planned. However, they are indeed still very much an active band.

They released numerous compilation albums in 2025. Recently, their classic 1979 live album “Live Killers” has been repressed on 2LP black vinyl and will be released on January 30.

Since 2011, the band has performed as the collaborative act Queen + Adam Lambert. Former “American Idol” star Lambert is, of course, from the United States. Therefore, May’s revelation about the band’s refusal to perform in his homeland may come as something of a disappointment to him.

Maybe, once Donald Trump is no longer the president, May and his bandmates will have a change of heart — we’re sure countless American fans would love them to do so.

  1. Don’t bother coming here! Disrespecting our president is no different than me calling your king out for cheating on his ex wife. Stay home you’re not the original band anyway!!!
