A-List Actor Reveals Major Transformation for Upcoming Beatles Film

Barry Keoghan is kicking off his transformation into Ringo Starr with a head-turning new look — and fans are loving it.

The 33-year-old Irish actor debuted a Ringo‐inspired hairstyle this week at a London premiere, giving the public its first real glimpse of how he’s embracing the iconic Beatles drummer role ahead of filming on the much-anticipated Beatles biopic.

Keoghan attended the “Crime 101” European premiere on Wednesday, January 28, at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, where paparazzi and attendees spotted him sporting noticeably longer, shaggy, mop-top locks that strongly echo the signature look Starr and his bandmates wore during the early days of The Beatles.

It’s a striking departure from the typically shorter hairstyles Keoghan has worn in the past, and the change underscores his commitment to inhabiting the role with authenticity — even in small details like hair, which became a cultural phenomenon in the 1960s.

The transformation isn’t just about aesthetics.

Keoghan has been embracing the spirit of the character ahead of principal photography, and the hairstyle debut is both a creative tease and a fun early look for audiences eager to see the Beatles biopic take shape.

Meghan Previously Talked About Meeting Starr

During appearances leading up to this moment, Keoghan has talked about meeting Ringo Starr and studying his personality and mannerisms.

In an interview in May 2025, Keoghan recalled visiting Starr at his home and shared that the rock legend even played the drums for him, a moment he described as both surreal and inspirational.

He said the experience gave him insight into Starr’s character that goes beyond physical traits, helping him approach the role with nuance and respect.

The upcoming project — officially titled “The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event” — is an ambitious ensemble biopic helmed by acclaimed director Sam Mendes.

Each of the four films will spotlight a different member of The Beatles, with Keoghan portraying Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

Film Is Set To Be Out in 2028

The films are backed by Sony Pictures and Neal Street Productions and are currently slated for an April 2028 release, giving audiences plenty to look forward to as the cast continues to prepare.

Fans at the premiere and on social media were quick to react positively to Keoghan’s new look, with many praising his commitment to capturing the classic Beatles aesthetic and expressing excitement for what’s to come.

Comments online ranged from playful nods to the haircut’s throwback vibe to hopeful anticipation for the biopic’s portrayal of one of the most celebrated bands in music history.
