As fans know, megastars Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are headed for a divorce. AP News says the “Big Little Lies” star filed to end the 19-year-marriage on Tuesday, November 30 in a Nashville court. The report says “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences” are mentioned in the papers.
Now, rumors are swirling that Urban may be involved with a beautiful and talented member of his band named Maggie Baugh who is a rising country artist after he altered a line in a song during a live performance to shout out the guitarist. Now, the 25-year-old’s father has taken to his Facebook page to make a strong statement about the reports. Read on to see what he said.
What Did Keith Urban Sing About Maggie Baugh?
Rumors of a possible romance were ignited when Keith Urban took a page from Taylor Swift’s playbook and edited one of his song lyrics during a live show to send a shout-out to a special someone. Page Six says the 57-year-old sang during a recent performance of his song “The Fighter,”, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.” The original lyrics say “When they’re get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter.”
Baugh fanned the flames of the rumor mill by sharing a clip of the moment on Instagram, alongside the words, “Did he just say that?”
So who is Maggie Baugh? The Page Six report says she’s a South Florida native who trained in classical music before going country. They say she told Up N’ Country in 2022, “I was in and out of orchestras and playing. I played Carnegie Hall, and I was in classical music programs. And then in eighth grade, I decided to switch to country music.”
They also say the brunette moved to Nashville as a teenager, according to a newspaper interview where she said, “I started going to Nashville when I was 13 and started songwriting around the same age. I put out my very first record when I was 13 years old.” She permanently relocated at 18.
Maggie Baugh’s Dad Reacts to Keith Urban Romance Rumors
On Thursday, October 2, TMZ reported the guitarist’s father, Chuck, had commented on the speculation of her being romantically involved with Keith Urban. TMZ says Chuck took to his Facebook page to repost a TikTok video which pointed out a few instances of Urban appearing to act affectionate towards Baugh during his summer tour.
Chuck firmly wrote in the caption of his post, “NO. Just no.” Because he didn’t elaborate on what he meant, it’s unclear whether he was simply voicing his disapproval of the gossipy TikTok, or declaring that relationship between Keith Urban and Maggie Baugh doesn’t exist.
However, Chuck also spoke out to the Daily Mail with a bit more information. The New York Post says he told the outlet, “I don’t know anything about it, other than she’s a guitar player for him. It’s more of a musician thing than a dating thing.” The report also reveals Chuck met Urban at a Las Vegas show in 2024.
