Maggie Baugh’s friend and fellow musician, Alexandra Kay, is speaking out as online speculation links Baugh to country music legend Keith Urban. The chatter began shortly after former “American Idol” judge Urban and Hollywood icon Nicole Kidman confirmed their separation.
“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say,” Kay, 34, said on Taste of Country Nights on October 22. “They’re stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true.’”
GettyKay also noted that Baugh, 25, is in a happy relationship. “I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy, and she has nothing to do with that whole [Kidman and Urban] relationship,” she added.
How the Rumors Started
The speculation began after a fan shared a concert video showing Urban changing the lyrics to his song “The Fighter.” Instead of singing, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter,” Urban performed, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh reposted the clip on Instagram on September 27 with the caption, “Did he just say that👀,” which fueled viral conversation.
Despite the chatter, neither Urban nor Baugh addressed the rumors directly. However, Baugh’s father, Chuck Baugh, responded to a social media post suggesting his daughter was responsible for the breakup. His public reply read, “NO. Just No.”
Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman’s Separation
Canva/GettyTMZ reported on September 29 that Kidman, 58, and Urban, 57, separated after nearly 20 years of marriage. Kidman filed for divorce the next day, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The former couple shares two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Court documents show that Kidman requested to be the “primary residential parent,” with the girls spending most of the year in her care.
Kidman has since returned to public events, including attending the Chanel Women’s Wear Spring/Summer 2026 show in Paris with her daughters. Urban recently wrapped his High and Alive World Tour in Nashville and has shows scheduled in 2026.

A source told Us Weekly that Kidman is now focused on helping her daughters adjust. “The hardest part is navigating the dynamic with their daughters,” the insider said. “The last thing Nicole wanted was a broken family.”
Kidman is moving forward with work, including “Big Little Lies” season 3 and “Practical Magic 2.” The insider added, “This next chapter feels more like a transition than a shock.”
