Music Icon Reveals He Hasn’t Been on a Date in 10 Years

Moby is perhaps one of the most well-known electronic music artists. Recently, the 60-year-old opened up about her personal life, revealing that he hasn’t been on a date in a decade. This comes as he recently celebrated 17 years of sobriety.

Moby Opens Up About Why Dating Isn’t Best For Him

He was interviewed by The Times in February 2026, making rare comments about his life today. He said, “I’m so unbelievably, tediously monastic right now. I work seven days a week, 365 days a year, because almost nothing brings me more joy than working. I haven’t been on a date in over 10 years.”

Regarding what he does with his time, the artist stated, “I’m a sober, vegan mediator who stays home and works and goes hiking. That’s about it.”

This isn’t the first time Moby has spoken about not being interested in having a romantic life. He told PEOPLE in 2021, “I looked at all of the pain created by my dating life, by other people’s dating lives, and then I looked at the other things in my life — creativity, spirituality, activism, and health — and I thought, ‘Okay, dating, maybe I’m done.’

So it’s been five years. I haven’t been on a date in five years. And the only thing that’s disconcerting for me is that it’s not disconcerting. I don’t miss it.”

From there, he spoke about the loverboy he was during the peak of his fame in the 90s. According to Moby, “I was that old country Western cliché, just looking for love in all the wrong places. Then, when you take fame, alcoholism, addiction, and a compulsive need to seek validation, it led to a lot of — to be diplomatic — less than ideal dating on my end.”

He Recently Celebrated 17 Years of Sobriety

According to PEOPLE, Moby committed to living a sober life in 2008. He poked the outlet in 2021 about the difficulties of his life before he became sober. He said, “I was anxious, angry and panicking because I couldn’t figure out how to be happy. That’s why I drank more and did more drugs … And I started thinking about killing myself.”

Since then, Moby has been outspoken about his sobriety journey and celebrated 17 years in October 2025. He said on Instagram, “17 years sober today. And I’m posting this to reach anyone who is still battling their own addiction. Addiction is excruciating, but if you are willing to be honest with yourself and to do the work, it absolutely can and will get better. I promise.”

Currently, Moby is on tour. Per his official website, he has several dates scheduled throughout April and August 2026.
