Michael Jackson‘s daughter Paris arrived for court in Los Angeles on Wednesday, March 11, looking gorgeous in smart burgundy pants and a coordinating blouse. The 27-year-old indie folk singer clutched a small bag of a similar shade, and wore her sun-kissed hair in flowing waves around her shoulders. She held what appeared to be legal documents in her other arm, and wore a cheerful expression on her way inside.
TMZ reports Paris was headed to court for a hearing related to her late father’s estate. Paris is fighting to ensure Michael Jackson’s fortune is properly managed after disagreeing with the way estate executors John Branca and John McClain have managed the funds, the outlet says.
Hear Paris Jackson’s Beautiful, Underrated Singing Voice
In contrast to Michael Jackson’s pop style, Paris has pivoted towards indie folk and recently experimented with a rock sound.
In 2020, she released “The Soundflowers EP” with former bandmate Gabriel Glenn, whom she dated for around two years. The duo started their acoustic-focused band in 2018. In an interview for Remix magazine, Paris called Glenn “my muse” and credited him with helping her gain the courage to start recording the music she’d been working on since age 13.
Glenn likewise made very positive comments about Paris, saying, “Paris is the jigsaw piece that completes me as an artist. She creates so naturally and honestly; it inspires me to be a better songwriter. I think having a unique spirit like hers allows us to channel things we’d never receive on our own.”
In a 2021 appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s “Red Table Talk,” she called their split “the most intense betrayal” she had ever experienced.
The Jacksons Recently Said Goodbye to a Beloved Family Member
Paris’ court appearance came on the heels of The Jacksons’ mid-February announcement on their band’s Instagram page that Toyia Jackson, the wife of Jackie’s son Siggy, had passed away.
The statement read in part, “Toyia was deeply loved and touched many lives with her kindness, strength and grace. She meant a great deal to our family and leaves a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who knew her, as well as on the broader Jackson legacy.”
It went on, “Our love and deepest condolences go out to Siggy and their children, Jared, Kai, Skyy and Anai, and to all who loved Toyia during this difficult time. She will be remembered with love and respect.”
Toyia had been fighting cancer, which she was documenting on her own page.
