The film promises “one last adventure” and an “an inside look at the years of effort and craft that went into the final installment of the Duffer Brothers’ generation-defining series.”
“The Making of Stranger Things 5” will be available to stream on Netflix on January 12.
‘The Making of Stranger Things 5’ Explores Key Moments
The ‘The Making of Stranger Things 5’ trailer shows series creators Matt and Ross Duffer parsing through essential parts of the final season. Interspersed are shots from “Stranger Things” and behind-the-scenes content of cast members like Millie Bobby Brown, who is seen wiping away tears on set.
“Writing the last lines that these characters would ever say, it was really hard to do,” admits Ross in a voiceover while a massive table read is shown. Clips shows the brothers looking stressed as they ponder how to conclude the hit series.
“At the end of the day, the audience cares most about the characters,” said Matt in an interview clip. Ross continued, saying that writing the words “end series” had “the biggest impact.”
“Thank you for giving so much of yourselves. For all the laughs and tears, we love you always,” said Ross before calling “cut” and wrapping the finale of “Stranger Things.” As shooting for the show officially concluded, confetti and balloons fell from the ceiling. The decorations were red, black and white, staying in line with the “Stranger Things” spooky color palette.
The ‘Stranger Things’ Finale Pulled Impressive Viewership
While reactions to the end of “Stranger Things” have been mixed, the show finished on an impressive note in terms of viewership. The fifth season’s second volume garnered over 34 million streams and a reported 750,000 fans attended in-theater showings of the finale across the country. “Stranger Things” as a whole has raked in over 1 billion views throughout its 10-year run.
“Stranger Things” propelled its stars, like Brown and Finn Wolfhard, to fame at a young age. The younger members of the cast were roughly 12 years old when the show premiered in 2016. Since then, the actors have starred in various projects, with Wolfhard even directing a horror film of his own.
