Barbra Streisand has pretty much done it all: Broadway, Hollywood, record-breaking albums, and now she’s officially adding a whole new title to her résumé.
The legendary star dropped a surprise update on Instagram about her next major release, and it turns out her inspiration came from a few very special little family members. Here are all the details.
Barbra Streisand’s New Book is for Her Youngest Fans
In a new Instagram post, Barbra Streisand shared that she is now the author of a new children’s book. It’s title is “And By The Way.”
The Oscar-winning entertainer wrote, “I love being ‘Gamma Barbra’ to my three beautiful grandchildren. Since reading is such a wonderful way to engage and stimulate young minds, I was inspired to write my first children’s picture book. “And by the way…” I hope you like it! Coming 3.30.2027.”
Additionally, Streisand shared two images. In one, she was seated at a desk writing. It was bookended by an image of her fingers being held by an infant.
The second slide was an image of the entertainer along with the book’s cover. It depicts a young girl seated on the grass, looking upward toward a night sky.
Fans Reacted to the Exciting News
In the slideshow’s caption, Barbra Streisand’s fans reacted to the exciting news. They can’t wait for 2027 to arrive to purchase the book.
“It’s gonna end up being purchased by adult Barbara fans like myself,” wrote one follower.
In addition, a second fan penned, “That will be an addition to my collection for sure! I can leave it for my grandchild.”
“My 3-year-old daughter is your BIGGEST fan!!! Cannot wait to get this for her!!” exclaimed a third social media follower.

Furthermore, the book clocked in at nearly 1,000 pages; the intimate autobiography took readers through her childhood in Brooklyn. In addition, it documented her rise to stardom and her decades navigating Hollywood on her own terms.
Consequently, before her memoir, Streisand also authored “My Passion for Design” in 2010. That coffee-table book offered a rare, detailed look inside her stunning Malibu home. It featured her photographs and insights into her architectural tastes and collections of antiques.
