Sometimes the most magical Hollywood moments begin with something as mundane as a misdelivered piece of mail. For Taylor Palmby, a New York City mental health counselor and content creator, that’s exactly how she ended up at the season 4 premiere of “Ted Lasso” and met Jason Sudeikis face to face.
Palmby moved to her Manhattan apartment in May 2025, and about a month later, deliveries addressed to Sudeikis started showing up. Letters from the Writers Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, and “For Your Consideration” screeners were delivered for Sudeikis. Confused, she looked the actor up online and found an old listing confirming her suspicion: she was living in Jason Sudeikis’ former apartment.
A Year-Long Mail Mystery
Over the following year, Palmby ended up collecting around five pieces of mail intended for the “Ted Lasso” star. Eventually, she decided it had become her unofficial job to get his mail back to him. She turned to social media for help, and the internet delivered.
The deliveries began with letters, but then bubble mailers began arriving. “These packages feel bigger, more substantial, and more important,” Palmby said in her initial video reaching out to Sudeikis. “I’d like to get them to you, I just, I don’t know how.”
Messages flooded her inbox from people claiming to have connections to Sudeikis. She described the response as “six degrees of Kevin Bacon, but one degree of Jason Sudeikis,” referencing the internet theory that everyone is within six degrees of Bacon.
“The amount of people that know Jason Sudeikis is amazing,” she said. “I have so many DMs, ‘I’m his cousin. I’m his sister. You can connect to this management company. My boyfriend is best friends with him or my ex knows him.'”
Jason Sudeikis Has Mail
It only took a few days for the message to reach the actor’s PR team, who saw Palmby’s video and extended her an invitation. She was invited to the Season 4 premiere of “Ted Lasso” in New York City and to hand-deliver the mail in person.
Palmby attended the premiere and the after-party last Tuesday, bringing along her best friend for the occasion. She is also a dedicated fan of “Ted Lasso,” having dressed as Sudeikis’ iconic character for Halloween.
Palmby described meeting Sudeikis as “really sweet,” noting he recognized her from her video circulating online. However, he admitted he didn’t recognize the old apartment his mail had been going to.
Reflecting on the experience, Palmby said having her best friend there to share the moment made it feel especially meaningful. She called the whole experience a reminder that even when life feels hard, there’s still room for whimsy and kindness from strangers.
