One of the longest-running game shows on American television is modernizing, with a spin-off episode due to air on YouTube later this month. Sony Pictures Television has revealed that the daily syndicated game show “Jeopardy” will move to YouTube for a special edition episode that will be hosted by Ken Jennings.
‘Jeopardy’ Special Edition Spin-off Streaming on YouTube at the End of March
A report from Deadline has revealed that a spin-off of “Jeopardy” is heading to YouTube. The episode will feature Jennings in his usual role as host, while YouTube creators and content producers Rebecca Black, Monét X Chang, and Brennan Lee Mulligan will take part as contestants.
The move is part of efforts to expand the presence of “Jeopardy” online and increase its digital footprint to engage younger fans. The upcoming spin-off will act as a relaunch of the already existing YouTube account for the game show.
The episode is being made as a collaboration between social-first creative agency We Are Social and YouTube.
“’Jeopardy‘ is one of the most successful and enduring brands in television history, with decades of cultural relevance and a loyal audience,” said Game Shows, Sony Pictures Television president Suzanne Prete,. “As we bring our YouTube strategy to life, we’re incredibly excited to build on that legacy while connecting with new audiences in a way that feels fresh, interactive, and native to the platform.”
Kevin Allocca, Global Head of Culture and Trends for YouTube said, “Blurring the lines between a traditional broadcast format and a new era of digital consumption results in something that’s fun for both new fans and old ones. Seeing Jeopardy! intersect with YouTube creators underscores how the two can amplify each other in ways that feel surprisingly authentic and are a testament to the enduring relevance of these formats.”
‘Jeopardy YouTube Edition’ Joins ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy’ As Franchise Expands
This is not the first spin-off of the quiz that has been produced in recent years. A season of “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” was created for the streaming service Amazon Prime Video with host Colin Jost. Sony Pictures Television has since confirmed that the second season of this series will be moving to Netflix.
According to Tudum, new episodes of “Pop Culture Jeopardy!” are due to hit the streaming service in 2026, although no definitive date has been given yet.
The spin-off ditches the traditional questions that focus on general knowledge. Instead, contestants compete with each other to test their knowledge of current trends in entertainment, celebrity drama, and memes.
