A family friend of Savannah Guthrie, 54, revealed to the Daily Mail that the alarming evidence found in the home of Nancy Guthrie has led authorities to believe that the 84-year-old has fallen victim to a crime.
In a statement shared with the outlet on Monday, Feb. 2, the source shed light on what exactly was found in Nancy’s $1 million home.
Evidence From Nancy Guthrie’s Home
“Her stuff was left behind at the house: keys, ID, purse, phone. Everything,” the insider said. “It’s not a situation where she voluntarily went away, because she didn’t take any of the things you would normally take if you voluntarily went out.”
The close insider added that Savannah “doesn’t believe that her mom just went out on her own accord.”
Daily Mail also reports that Nancy’s neighbor Paul Arnaud grew concerned for Nancy’s whereabouts after she didn’t show up to Sunday church service.
“We heard that the front door was left open,” Arnaud said. “So a lot of us are worried that it was an abduction because they did a thorough search throughout the entire day and early evening of the entire area, and they could not find her.”
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed during a press conference held on Feb. 2 that authorities believe Nancy’s home is the scene of a crime and that she did not willingly leave, AZPM News reports.
‘Crime Scene’ Statement From Prima County Sheriff Chris Nanos
“We saw some things at the home that were concerning to us. We believe now after we’ve processed that crime scene that we do in fact have a crime scene, that we do in fact have a crime. We’re asking the community’s help,” Sheriff Nanos stated.
Nanos added that Nancy went missing without taking necessary medication with her, noting that if she does not get her medication within 24 hours, results could be “fatal.”
Nanos went on to urge the public to call 911 with any information. “We are right now at a time where, in this investigation, we’re now moving forward, but we need to depend on technology,” Nanos said. “Our license plate readers, our camera systems throughout the community… anything, everything, and we will download all that data we have from the home.”
A family member alerted authorities about Nancy’s disappearance on Sunday, Feb. 1, after she was last seen at her home in Catalina Foothills, north of Tucson, Ariz., around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, TMZ reports.
Nancy is described to be a 5-foot, 5-inch white woman, weighing 150 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes.
