Savannah Guthrie thanked her mom, Nancy Guthrie, for her “long legacy of love” months before she went missing on Saturday night in nearby Tucson, Arizona.
The “Today” host has made her mom a constant presence on her social media, often giving her 1.1 million Instagram followers a closer look at their loving mother-daughter relationship. That relationship is now in the limelight after it was reported that Nancy went missing late Saturday night from her home in the Catalina Foothills area in Pima County.
The search has intensified after multiple news outlets, including The Daily Mail, reported that alarming evidence found at Nancy’s home has led authorities to believe that the 84-year-old is the victim of a crime.
While fans have not directly heard from Savannah about the ordeal, they know that her heart’s heavy as the search for her mother continues. Fans also know that Savannah has an incredibly close bond with her mother, and that much is clear when scrolling through Savannah’s Instagram page.
Cheering Her Mom On Her Big Day
Savannah wished Nancy the happiest of birthdays in January 2025.
“A big cheers and happy birthday to this beauty. I love you, Mom,” Savannah captioned the post showing a single photo of Nancy smiling while raising a glass.
In a Mother’s Day 2020 post, Savannah opened up about what her mother has meant to her since she was a child and what she means to her own children: daughter, Vale, and son, Charley, whom she shares with her husband, Michael Feldman.
“This day and every day I thank God for the first and best gift: my mom,” Savanah captioned the post. “And her mom before her. And my babies after her. A long legacy of love.”
In another sweet birthday tribute, Savannah’s carousel post paid homage to Nancy as “my heart and my everything.”
“Happy birthday to a mother like no other. My mom Nancy is my heart and my everything and my model for what a mother should be,” Savannah wrote. “Thank you, God, for her 78 beautiful years! Happy birthday, mama!!!”
This Is ‘Deeply Personal’
Nancy has been a constant presence on Savannah’s Instagram feed and NBC’s flagship morning show, which is why “Today” show co-host Craig Melvin addressed the concerning situation head-on, and shared with viewers how this has affected the entire team.
“This is very concerning to us,” he said, while adding that this moment is “deeply personal.”
Savannah recently appeared on the “Today” show segment dubbed “Homecoming,” alongside Nancy and her sister, Annie, as the host returned to her hometown of Tucson.
“But by far my favorite part about Tucson is family,” Savannah said halfway through the segment as she propped up the nation’s oldest family-owned Mexican restaurant, El Charro, which, according to the restaurant, was established in 1922.
She called the restaurant “the perfect” place to catch up with her family.
“I come here every time I come home to Tucson. I have to come to El Charro,” she said.
After Savannah, Nancy, and Annie took part in a prohibition-era tradition of women hiding their tequila in teacups, Savannah turned to her mom and walked down memory lane.
“Mom, you guys came here in the 70s, and you had been moving all around. What made you want to stay in Tucson and plant roots?” Savannah asked Nancy, to which she responded, “It’s so wonderful. Just the air, the quality of life. It’s laid back and gentle.”
