Savannah Guthrie’s family has issued a statement as authorities escalate the search for her missing mother in southern Arizona. “We can confirm this is a missing persons case, and the family is working closely with local law enforcement,” the family said, as per a statement published in The New York Times.

As per the statement published in Page Six: “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”

She also acknowledged the work of investigators and urged the public to assist if possible.

“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”


Homicide Detectives Brought In as Search Intensifies

As per ABC15, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that homicide investigators have joined the case after what he described as concerning findings at the scene.

“This one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found and located just in looking at the scene,” Nanos said during a press conference. He declined to elaborate on the evidence uncovered.

He added, “We hope we find her safe and sound, but we are very concerned.”

Authorities stressed that while the investigation is being handled as a missing persons case, foul play has not been ruled out.
