New Details Reveal What Happened When Nancy Guthrie Was Reported Missing

“Today” host Savannah Guthrie’s mother has been reported missing in southern Arizona, prompting a search by authorities. The family has also asked the public for help.

And with that, new information continues to come out. Specifically, US Weekly reports that a friend went to Nancy Guthrie’s house, where they “did some searching and realized, ‘We need some help,’ and they called 911.”

This is how the family discovered she was missing, and it has now turned into a potential criminal investigation.

The Daily Mail provided some additional information about what authorities discovered at Nancy’s house.

“Her stuff was left behind at the house: keys, ID, purse, phone. Everything,” the insider said. “It’s not a situation where she voluntarily went away, because she didn’t take any of the things you would normally take if you voluntarily went out.”

With that, they added that Savannah “doesn’t believe that her mom just went out on her own accord.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos Provides Update

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that homicide investigators are involved in the case after authorities became concerned due to the state of the house following Nancy’s disappearance.

“This one stood out because of what was described to us at the scene and what we found and located just in looking at the scene,” Nanos said during a press conference. “We hope we find her safe and sound, but we are very concerned.”

And with that, they don’t believe she walked away from her home voluntarily.

“She is very limited in her mobility, we know she didn’t just walk out of there, that we know,” Nanos added. “There were other things at the scene that indicate that she did not leave on her own.”

Savannah Guthrie Releases Statement On Behalf Of Her Family

Understandably, Savannah was absent from the show on Monday, but she did provide a statement that was read aloud.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” she said. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-4900.”

The show also took a moment to show their support for Savannah and her family.

As per People, Co-anchor Vladimir Duthiers said, “Sending love to Savannah and her family and hope that this is resolved quickly and that she gets home safely.”

His co-anchor Adriana Diaz added, “We are praying for her.”
