‘Nancy Has Been Located’: PCSD’s Latest Update Sparks Guthrie Confusion

A social media post from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department sparked online confusion, with some users initially misinterpreting it as referring to Nancy Guthrie.

PCSD’s official X account shared a post that read, “Update: Nancy has been located” on Thursday night. As the agency leading the search for Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, many assumed the update was about her.

However, the post was actually referring to Nancy Radakovich, an 82-year-old whom PCSD had reported missing just 12 hours earlier.

Aside from the confusing caption, the sheriff’s department also shared a photo of the missing person poster with the word “LOCATED” stamped across the elderly woman’s picture.

People React to Nancy Guthrie Confusion

Many took to the comments to share their reactions to PCSD’s confusing post, with some noting that the woman’s surname was not included—unlike in previous missing-person alerts that listed the full name.

Someone wrote, “I LITERALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS NANCY GUTHRIE. THE WAY MY HEART JUST DROPPED!”

Another chimed in, “How hard is it to put the last name?”

A user added, “Omg at first I saw Nancy & looked at the photo, I thought it was Nancy Guthrie!”

Someone commented, “Could’ve used her whole name. Glad she is found, but this seems deliberate.”

Prior to the “Nancy has been located” update, the sheriff’s department had shared full details about the missing elderly woman, asking the public for help in locating her.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Hair Evidence Sent to FBI

Meanwhile, DNA evidence was recently sent to an FBI laboratory for advanced analysis.

“Some DNA evidence from Nancy Guthrie’s home has been sent to the FBI’s lab for advanced analysis,” NewsNation’s Brian Entin shared on X. “I am told the evidence includes hairs found in Guthrie’s home. This comes after evidence has already been tested through a Florida lab the Pima County Sheriff’s Office uses.”

On Thursday, PCSD issued a statement on the Nancy Guthrie case after nearly a month.

“PCSD has worked with the FBI since the beginning of the Guthrie investigation. This is not new information,” the sheriff’s department shared on X. “The private lab we utilize in Florida continues to share information with the FBI lab & other partner labs across the country. DNA analysis remains ongoing.”

Nancy Guthrie was reportedly abducted from her Tucson, Arizona home in the early morning hours of February 1st.
