As the investigation into the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continues into its ninth week, law enforcement does not seem to be any closer to tracking down the suspects involved in the kidnapping or locating the victim who was forcibly removed from home in Tucson, Arizona at the start of February.
In an attempt to help motivate someone into providing vital information that could provide a much-needed breakthrough in the case, someone has now offered a new reward in addition to the $1 million offered by the Guthrie family.
Milwaukee Crime Stoppers President Offers New Reward for Information
GettyMichael Hupy, who is the president of the Milwaukee Crime Stoppers organization and also works as a personal injury lawyer in the area, has offered a new reward in the Nancy Guthrie case.
Hupy is putting up $100,000 of his own money to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest of the kidnapper or the location of the victim.
“I was sad that an 84‑year‑old woman was abducted without her meds. Her heart monitor stopped,” Hupy told NewsNation. “I didn’t think the crime scene was handled properly. They didn’t secure the crime scene in a way I thought they should. I don’t think they got all the information they could have from the crime scene.”
He added, “Some people will only come forward if they can do so anonymously, which they can do with Crime Stoppers. Some people will only come forward if there’s a reward, which they can get from Crime Stoppers.
The lawyer is also funding a billboard in Tucson to advertise the reward and also raise awareness of the case as it continues into its ninth week.
Former Sheriff Kurt Dabb Says Suspect Probably Had Multiple Accomplices
GettyIn an interview with RadarOnline.com, former Pima County sheriff Kurt Dabb offered his opinion that the suspect in the kidnapping case almost certainly had a number of accomplices to help him plan and carry out the crime.
“I believe there are anywhere between two to four accomplices,” Dabb said. “The logistics of something of this magnitude is too much for one person to handle, in my professional opinion, based on the facts as I know them right now.”
The sheer amount of work that would have been necessary to carry out a kidnapping like this so successfully means that it would be almost impossible for someone to do it alone.
He added, “It’s more than likely the home was canvassed prior, either by the kidnapper himself or an accomplice. Whether or not they knew a camera was there was a culmination of their reconnoiter.”
