Andy Cohen Tells ‘Call Her Daddy’ Which Star He Wishes Joined ‘Real Housewives’

Andy Cohen joined Alex Cooper on her “Call Her Daddy” podcast, where the two discussed everything from how the host became the king of Bravo to his unique celebrity friendships with stars like John Mayer.

In between, Cohen was asked about the “Real Housewives” franchise, in particular, if there was a woman he wanted to be on the beloved show but had no luck getting. To much surprise, he revealed there was indeed one woman he had always hoped to cast, calling her “the one that got away.”

During Andy Cohen’s appearance on “Call Her Daddy,” host Alex Cooper asked him a series of questions related to “Real Housewives.” However, one of the most intriguing questions asked was if there was a woman he wanted to join the housewives “so bad but couldn’t get to sign on.”

Cohen noted a “lack of diversity” among the women of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” which led him to consider asking Erica Reid, the wife of record executive L.A. Reid.

“Oh, there was a woman in, well, on RHONY. You know, people complained about the lack of diversity on RHONY for years,” he began. “And there were a few very high-profile women of color in New York that we were, that I was sitting with, I was meeting with, that didn’t happen.”

He continued, “So that, one was Erica Reid, L.A. Reid’s wife. And we were, and L.A. didn’t want to be on the show. I mean, it was like a whole thing. And I know Erica, and she’s amazing. And she was kind of the one that got away for RHONY for years.” Cohen concluded by saying, besides Erica, “there have been quite a few” women that he had in mind.

Cooper hit Cohen with several questions regarding the “Real Housewives,” including what the Bravo host’s mindset is during the franchise’s reunion episodes. These gatherings are typically filled with heated arguments, tears, and occasionally, reconciliations.

Still, Cohen described the reunions as a massive production, noting things like careful seating chart planning and when the biggest questions should be asked.

When Cooper asked Cohen about his “head space” leading up to reunions, he shared, “Used to be a really big deal for me leading up to the reunion, hours-long prep calls with the producers, speaking to the women in advance,” he began. “The morning of, I would take a run, I mean, I was in the thing.”

However, after hosting reunions for years, it’s now a walk in the park for Cohen. “To be honest, what do I do now? I drop my kids off at school, I go, what color suit do you want me to wear? What is the set? I bring three ties. I go, I’m like, come on, let’s do it.”

However, Cohen did admit that there have been a few instances when the Housewives have pushed his buttons at the reunion. In fact, he shared something he hates to do to keep the women from yelling at one another and talking over each other.

“I mean, the last couple Jersey reunions I had a really hard time with. And, by the way, I don’t like screaming at women. It is a bad look, but there are moments, and they left them in the show, where I’m like, ‘Shut the [expletive] up.'” Cohen admitted.
