During a Monday, March 9 episode of SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, the Bravo boss opened up about the heartbreaking memorial service held for “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” star Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr.
According to People, Robert tragically passed away on Feb. 23, of a possible overdose in Utah at the age of 23. As of this writing, an official cause of death has not been finalized. Just two days after his passing, Mary shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram confirming her son’s death, sharing, “Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord.”
Andy Cohen Shares RHOSLC Stars Attended Robert Cosby Jr.’s Memorial
NBCUniversalAndy Cohen confirmed that all of Mary Cosby’s RHOSLC co-stars were in attendance for a memorial service held for her son, Robert Cosby Jr., who sadly passed away on Feb. 23 at the age of 23.
Speaking on his SiriusXM radio show, Cohen shared, “I was not able to go to Robert Jr.’s service on Saturday in Salt Lake City. I got a full report, though, and I hear it was an absolutely incredible ceremony.”
The Bravo executive producer also revealed that the RHOSLC production team was present, and so were other “Real Housewives” stars. “It was Pentecostal and besides the Salt Lake City Housewives and production team, I know that Cynthia [Bailey] was there and Shereé [Whitfield] was there and Kyle Richards was there, which was just, I love it that they went,” he said.
Cohen added that it was “so kind” that other Housewives were able to attend, calling them “real ones.”
“And I hear that the service was so uplifting and so moving and absolutely kind of rapturous, and Mary was on one. I mean, in a spiritual way. She was spiritually on one. Let me say that, and Robert Sr. spoke and was apparently, Kyle said Robert Sr. was unbelievable,” Cohen said.
The memorial service for Robert Jr. was held on Saturday, March 7th.
Robert Jr.’s Obituary Names Mary as His ‘Closest Confidante’
An obituary for Robert Jr. offered deeper insight into the man fans came to love and support as they watched him battle drug addiction, while also highlighting the close bond he shared with his mother.
“Affectionately known as “Bubs,” Robert was a bright, loving, and gifted young man whose compassion and gentle spirit touched everyone he met,” his obituary began.
The obituary then informed loved ones of Robert’s love of learning, sharing that he “attended schools in Utah, Florida, and New York, and was accepted early to Cornell University, where he completed his 10th-grade year” before returning home to complete his school experience and obtain his high school degree at Juan Diego Catholic School.
“He later worked as a Mortgage Loan Officer Assistant at Hope Mortgage and was the founder and creative force behind the inaugural “Thrasher Fest” skateboard tournament,” the statement shared, adding that Robert had a “love for style and fashion” that “was unmatched.”
The obituary also touched on Robert’s close bond with his mother. “Robert loved his parents with a fierce and unwavering devotion, and his mother was his closest confidante,” it read.
On Feb. 28, just a few days after his passing, Mary shared a photo of herself and Robert on Instagram. She heartbreakingly captioned it, “#godfirst #love #forever #❤️ I’m Going to miss you bubs❤️🙏😢”
