Kyle Richards’ admission about her dating life during season 15, episode 3 came as a surprise to her “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” cast mates. The reality star shared candid insights about what she’s looking for in a potential partner, giving fans another glimpse into her personal journey amid her 2023 split from estranged husband Mauricio Umansky after 27 years of marriage, as well as her recent breakup.
Richards’ Romantic Intentions
During episode 3, there was a group debrief at Bozoma Saint John‘s speed dating event (which is teased in the above clip). At the event, the “RHOBH” ladies took the opportunity to ask Richards about her romantic intentions following her split.
When Dorit Kemsley asked Richards if she was “actively looking to meet someone,” she answered, “of course not.”
This response surprised the group, so Richards decided to expand on her answer and explain why she’s not interested in casual encounters. “I would be looking for a life partner,” Richards said. “Like, I want to get married again. … I think I would want to get married again.”
This equally shocked her castmates.
After Richards revealed that she is not a “one-night-only girl,” as Rachel Zoe put it, Boz made it her mission to find her “somebody with substance.” To find out more, Boz questioned Richards’ dating preferences.
Richards explained that she’d “been in love” three times in her life, before realizing that Boz was actually trying to ask about her sexuality.
“Boz is acting like she’s never heard anything or seen anything, and she’s asking me all these questions,” Richards told a producer during one of her confessionals. “And I’m like, ‘OK, Boz.'”
“Why don’t you ask what you really want to ask?” Richards said. “I could go Brad; I could go Angelina. And that’s what you want me to say, right?”
When Boz asked if she was “serious,” Richards replied, “I mean, I’m, like, half joking, but not fully joking. I don’t know. Listen, I’ve learned a lot about myself. I think gender doesn’t matter. I think it’s … a soul connection.”
Richards Discusses Her Dislike of Labels
When speaking with Variety at BravoCon 2025, Richards was asked about her statement from the season 15 trailer where she said, “I could go Brad, I could go Angelina,” as fans took this as her coming out as bisexual. But Richards said that she didn’t like labeling her sexuality.
“Honestly, this is where it stemmed from — I know people the girls are clearly hinting for that heavily. And I was like, just come out and say it. They were like, ‘Noooo, we were just — ‘ They all laughed, I laughed,” said Richards.
“And then when I saw it, I said, ‘Why did I even say that?’ I love Jennifer Aniston! I don’t even mean it like that, she’s beautiful, — but I’m her biggest fan. I was like, ‘Why did I say that?’ I said it to make them laugh. I think people can think whatever they want.”
“I always had a type, tall, dark and handsome, and that’s what I married. I am growing and evolving, and my mind has opened up,” she concluded. “So I don’t know. I don’t know what the future holds now, and I’m fine with that.”
Richards previously opened up to Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” about discussing her evolving sexuality with her children, Farrah, 36, Alexia, 28, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16.
“It was the most difficult conversation I’ve ever had with my children and I was terrified to have that conversation. I just wanted to be as honest as I possibly could,” she said.
“I like to lead by example and I thought, ‘you know, if this is what I’m going through and feeling, I want them to always feel comfortable enough to share with me the hardest conversations and know that they’ll be accepted no matter what.'”
Richards was proud of their immediate acceptance.
“Having that conversation, their reaction and response to me, I thought, ‘wow, I mean, I’m just so impressed by these four women in front of me,'” said Richards. “And I thought, ‘maybe, just maybe, I did do a good job’ — because that was my most proud moment as a mom, just seeing how they all reacted.”
Richards Open up About Why Her Recent Romance Ended
During the second episode of season 15, Richards shared that she had been in a relationship after she and Umansky announced their separation and how that relationship came to an unfortunate but understandable end.
During one of her confessionals, Richards admitted to a producer, “since separating from Mau, I was in a relationship. I was at a very vulnerable place in my life, and I fell hard for this person. You know, if I’m in love with somebody, I want to share that. I don’t care. I’m an open person like that. But that doesn’t mean that the person I’m with feels the same way.”
She explained that the questions about her love life, from her “RHOBH” castmates and the public, had caused issues between her and the unnamed person she was dating.
“All the speculation and the gossip and the talking is what ultimately ended it,” she explained. “I could’ve weathered the storm, but this is not for everyone.”
She continued, “I think if this person weren’t so afraid of the public scrutiny and the life under a microscope…” But Richards did not finish her statement.
Recently, on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show” for season 15, episode 3, Richards pointed out that, even though the romance is very much “in the past,” she is still “on good terms” with her recent ex.
“It just was bad timing,” she explained. “Our timing just did not match up, you know, and for a multitude of reasons, so… “
When a “RHOBH After Show” producer asked if she might “revisit that relationship” in the future if “the timing did work out,” Richards admitted that she wasn’t sure if there was any chance of a reconciliation.
“I just don’t think that, unfortunately, that our lifestyles and, like I said, the timing were aligned,” she elaborated. “So, a lot would have to change.”
