Michelle Lundstrom, the wife of “General Hospital” fan favorite Steve Burton (Jason), has an important warning for fans about scammers, impostors, and hoaxes. Burton has repeatedly spoken out about fake AI images and social media accounts pretending to be him, and now his wife has a message on the hot topic, too.
Steve Burton’s Wife Michelle Lundstrom Issues Important Fan Message
Taking to Instagram, Lundstrom got right to the point, talking about the influx of fake scammers, AI-generated images, and impostors claiming to be her husband. Lundstrom revealed she and Burton had just learned of another fan who was scammed into thinking she was in a relationship with the actor.
“It saddens me to have to make a video like this, but I feel like it needs to be done,” she began before reiterating that many scammers are impersonating Burton to steal money from his fans.
Things have gotten so bad with the hoaxes and scammers that Lundstrom keeps getting messages from women claiming they’re trying to reach Burton. She has also had family members of fans who were scammed reach out to her for help.
Lundstrom called out social media pages that have been creating fake AI content about the couple. She made it clear that unless she or Burton posts something, fans should not believe it.
“I need to say this clearly, from the heart: My husband @1steveburton is not privately messaging anyone. He is not in a relationship with anyone online. He is not asking for money, gifts, or personal information. He doesn’t have management team, or fan cards, both are used to scam women out of money,” she wrote.
Lundstrom admitted that it upsets her to see so many women being taken advantage of, while calling out the scammers for preying on women. She gave some advice that she hopes will help others stay safe online.
“Please, if you ever receive a message that seems personal or asks you to move conversations off official platforms, take a step back and question it. Real people especially public figures DO NOT communicate this way. This is a reminder of how important it is to protect yourself online,” Lundstrom ended her caption.
‘General Hospital’ Star Steve Burton and Michelle Lundstrom Bring Awareness to Scammers
In her video, Lundstrom revealed that there was a scammer incident while Burton was on the Stone Cold and the Jackal tour with his “General Hospital” co-star Bradford Anderson (Spinelli).
One woman came up to Burton and truly believed they had been in a relationship for two years. The woman gave $40,000 to the person she believed was Burton. Lundstrom revealed she had hoped the “Good Morning America” story, in which one fan was scammed out of $80,000 by a fake Burton, would have raised more awareness of impostors.
Burton has repeatedly spoken out on the subject, especially on tour and on his podcast with Anderson. The soap star has made it clear he would never ask for money or ask anyone to be in a relationship with him online.
Sadly, the scammers have gotten more crafty and convincing, but that won’t stop Burton or Lundstrom from raising awareness. They just want Burton’s fans to be safe.
