Did ‘General Hospital’ Go Too Far With This New Romance? Fans Are Divided

Young love may be brewing in Port Charles, but not all “General Hospital” fans are on board with one of the soap’s newest romances.

Rocco Falconeri and Scout Cain have grown closer, and while some viewers think the young couple is adorable, others can’t get past the history they share.

Now, fans are debating whether Rocco and Scout make a sweet new pairing or if their past makes the romance a little too close for comfort. Read on to see what “GH” fans had to say.

Are Rocco and Scout Too Close for Comfort?

“GH” stars Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson took to their Stone Cold and the Jackal social media pages to pose a question to fans about one of the youngest and newest couples in Port Charles.

The duo wrote, “Rocco And Scout: TOO CUTE, OR TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT?”

Fans had mixed reactions to the pairing, with some viewers immediately pointing to Rocco and Scout’s childhood history.

As longtime “GH” fans will remember, Scout and Rocco lived in the same house for a period of time while Rocco’s father, Dante Falconeri, and Scout’s mother, Sam McCall, were dating. Dante eventually proposed to Sam shortly before her death on Halloween in 2024.

For some fans, that history makes seeing Rocco and Scout develop a romance uncomfortable.

“It wasn’t that long ago that they considered themselves brother & sister, so no…” one viewer wrote.

Another “General Hospital” fan had a similar reaction, writing, “It would have been fine if the writers didn’t spend a whole year convincing the audience they see each other as siblings. Now it’s weird.”

“They were raised as step brother/sister for the longest. This is sort of eek,” another commented.

“I’m not liking this. They were raised as brother/sister for a time when Sam and Dante were living together. And Scout is too young for Rocco,” one fan added.

Another viewer didn’t mince words, writing, “EEWWW. They’re literally raised as siblings.”

Other ‘GH’ Fans Say There’s Nothing Wrong With the Pairing

However, not everyone agreed that Rocco and Scout’s history makes their new romance uncomfortable. Other “GH” fans pointed out that Sam and Dante were never married and argued that Rocco and Scout were never actually stepsiblings.

“Sam and Dante were never married. They are not step-siblings and they never were. They aged Scout up so that they are now both in high school. They no longer live in the same house. I think it’s fine,” one fan wrote.

Another viewer pushed back against the idea that the two were raised together, writing, “I wouldn’t go as far as to say they were raised together. Not sure why people are saying that. Their parents were together but they are not related in any way so it’s fine.”

Others simply like the young couple and see their longtime connection as something that makes the romance sweeter.

“I think they’re really adorable and they’ve known each other for a long time so it’s sweet. We’ve all had those teenage crushes,” one fan commented.

Another viewer pointed out an interesting piece of Spencer family history, writing, “I mean Sante isn’t together anymore, good for them… I mean Lulu was with her step brother.”

As longtime “GH” fans may remember, Rocco’s own mother, Lulu Spencer, had her own step-sibling romance, setting her sights on her then-stepbrother, Dillon Quartermaine, while he was already in a relationship with Georgie Jones.

Still, some fans argued that Lulu and Dillon were never raised together, which makes the situation different from Rocco and Scout’s relationship.

Some ‘GH’ Fans Saw Rocco and Scout Coming

While some “General Hospital” fans continue to debate whether Rocco and Scout’s shared history makes their romance uncomfortable, others were hardly surprised to see the show take the two teens in this direction.

“I knew that was coming… pretty obvious,” one fan wrote.

Another agreed, but also brought up another controversial young Port Charles pairing.

“Saw this coming. Better than Danny and Charlotte, who are literal cousins,” the viewer commented.

“GH” fans have not been too keen on the Danny Morgan and Charlotte Cassadine pairing over the last year or so, as the two teens are distant cousins through the Cassadine side of the family.

Whether Rocco and Scout become one of Port Charles’ next young love stories or their shared childhood history proves too difficult for some viewers to overlook, fans are clearly divided on the pairing.
