‘Survivor 50’ Star Christian Hubicki Reveals Where He Stands With Mike White After Blindside

“Survivor 50” contestant Christian Hubicki is opening up about where things stand with Mike White following his recent elimination — and the two have not reconnected since the game.

In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Hubicki revealed that he reached out to White after filming wrapped, but never heard back.

Hubicki said he sent White “a long message” apologizing for voting him out, acknowledging that the move likely came as a surprise. However, the “White Lotus” creator did not respond.

“I basically said, ‘Look, Mike, I totally understand you feel hurt. This was not the part of some grand plan,’” Hubicki explained after his elimination.

The moment marked a notable shift between the two players, who previously competed together on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” in 2018. During that season, Hubicki and White developed a connection as part of the broader social and strategic dynamics of the game.

On “Survivor 50,” however, the stakes were different — and so were the alliances.

Hubicki ultimately made the decision to vote out White as part of a larger effort to reposition himself ahead of the merge, even though he knew the move could damage their relationship.

A Strategic Move, Not a Personal One

According to Hubicki, the vote came down to a difficult situation that forced him to make a choice between competing alliances.

“It was just a really bad situation where I had to choose: who do I go with?” he said. “And ultimately getting rid of Mike separated Ozzy and Angelina so they wouldn’t work together. It was all to defuse the target at the merge.”

The explanation highlights just how calculated the decision was, even if it came at a personal cost.

Hubicki admitted he “especially hated” making the move, emphasizing that the vote was not driven by emotion, but by what he believed gave him the best chance to move forward in the game.

Despite the strategic reasoning, he acknowledged that voting out White — someone he respects — was not easy.

“For all the wonderful things he’s done in his life, I know he also deeply cares about this show,” Hubicki said.

“So taking that away from him, I knew it would hurt, but I could not march into the merge a dead man on his behalf. That’s all it was.”

Christian Hubicki Leaves the Door Open

Even without a response, Hubicki made it clear he is not closing the door on a future conversation with White.

The former contestant indicated he would be open to reconnecting, suggesting that time — and distance from the game — could eventually lead to a different outcome.

Hubicki also reiterated that his decision was rooted entirely in gameplay, not personal feelings, reinforcing a common theme among returning players navigating high-stakes, all-star seasons.

The situation adds another layer to the evolving dynamics of “Survivor 50,” where past relationships and reputations continue to shape how the game unfolds.

As the season progresses, those choices — and their aftermath — are becoming just as important as the votes themselves.

Survivor 50” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
