Fan-favorite “Survivor” star Christian Hubicki just revealed he nearly joined another hit reality series — but the opportunity came together so quickly that he ultimately had to walk away.
Speaking candidly, Hubicki shared that he received a surprise, last-minute call to join “The Traitors” for its second season.
“I got a random call and it was from ‘The Traitors’ and it was for season two,” he said. “They said, ‘Christian, we think you’d be good for ‘The Traitors.’’”
At first, the opportunity sounded like a natural fit.
“I was like, ‘Oh, okay, that’s very kind of you to call. I’m interested in principle. When would be filming?’”
But the timeline immediately raised red flags.
“They said it’s not a very long shoot, but it will start in ten days,” he continued. “I’m like, what?”
Hubicki quickly realized what likely happened behind the scenes.
“Clearly someone dropped out at the last minute and they were looking for a replacement,” he explained.
Despite seriously considering it, the turnaround made it impossible.
“I thought about it, but I had major work obligations I would be missing. Really serious work obligations,” he said. “I’m sorry… there’s no way I can go in ten days.”
Why Christian Hubicki Made Sense for ‘The Traitors’
Hubicki’s near-casting isn’t surprising when you look at how he played his original season, “Survivor: David vs. Goliath.”
He became a standout not just for his personality, but for his ability to navigate complex social dynamics while keeping his threat level low — a skillset that directly translates to “The Traitors.”
Throughout his season, Hubicki consistently showed an ability to:
- Break down alliances and shifting power structures
- Build trust quickly in one-on-one conversations
- Balance intelligence with approachability to avoid becoming a target
That combination is exactly what makes a strong “Traitors” player, where success depends on reading people accurately while managing how others perceive you.
It also explains why casting would feel confident calling him as a last-minute replacement — he’s the type of player who could step into a high-pressure game immediately and still compete at a high level.
Christian Hubicki Returns for ‘Survivor 50’
While he missed out on “The Traitors,” Hubicki is far from done with reality TV.
He is currently competing on “Survivor 50,” the milestone season bringing together standout players from across the franchise.
His original run on “Survivor: David vs. Goliath” remains one of the most memorable in recent years, thanks to a mix of humor, self-awareness, and sharp strategic thinking. He often used his personality to disarm other players while quietly staying plugged into the game’s bigger picture.
Now, returning for “Survivor 50,” the dynamic is completely different.
Hubicki is no longer an under-the-radar player. He’s entering a game filled with experienced competitors who understand strategy at a much higher level — meaning his ability to adapt will be tested immediately.
Still, his track record suggests he’s more than capable of adjusting.
And given how close he came to joining “The Traitors,” it’s clear Hubicki remains firmly on the radar for top-tier reality casting.

Would love to see him on The Traitors! I hope they offer it to him again in the future(and not as a last minute replacement).
