Executive producer Matt Van Wagenen has discussed what he sees as the future for “Survivor” after the show’s upcoming landmark 50th season. In an interview, Wagenen revealed that he sees the series continuing for many years to come and hopes that one day his own daughter will be able to take part.
Matt Van Wagenen Wants ‘Survivor’ to Keep Going
Although “Survivor” shows no real signs of slowing down, the upcoming special anniversary edition of the show in celebration of it reaching season 50 seems like a good time to take stock. Speaking in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the executive producer explained that there are currently no plans to stop making “Survivor.”
In fact, he wants it to carry on for well over a decade more so that his own daughter can one day work on the reality television series.
“I am hoping this show lasts long enough for my daughter to be on the Dream Team [that tests out all the challenges] and she’s 8. You have to be 21,” Matt said, “Maybe for her, we’ll make an exception and go 20.”
Emphasizing that he has no desire to see the show come to an end in the near future, he continued, “I do not want it to end. I don’t even talk about an end of ‘Survivor.’ It’s like, when is the NFL going to end? It’s become something different. So I don’t envision an end.”
Wagenen also doesn’t have any fear about host Jeff Probst leaving the show either. The executive producer went on to say that he admires the way that Probst is constantly able to keep “Survivor” feeling fresh for himself and the audience.
“I know he loves it the way he talks about it,” he added. “We work together closely and I see his passion and his love for it. So I don’t see that dying anytime soon. He always is able to find something new and interesting, and that sparks him.”
Aubry Bracco Leads Odds as Favorite to Win ‘Survivor’ Season 50
With the highly anticipated “Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans” fast approaching, odds for who might win suggest that Aubry Bracco is the favorite to take home the grand prize.
Bracco currently has a 69% chance of winning and being named Sole Survivor according to Kaslhi. This is likely due to her experience in the game, with the upcoming season being the fourth time that she has competed in the franchise.
Previously, Bracco had a stretch of appearances in “Survivor: Kaôh Rōng,” “Survivor: Game Changers,” and “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” between 2015 and 2018. However, she failed to win in any of her previous outings but did come runner-up in her debut.
