‘Golden Bachelor’ Star Getting Numerous Love Offers: ‘I Am the Prize’

Amy Kaplan may have been sent home after only three weeks on ABC’s “The Golden Bachelor,” but her love life today is even better than before, according to the New York Post. Kaplan, a 63-year-old woman from Queens, knew early on she and “The Golden Bachelor” Mel Owens weren’t the right match, but she may have another chance at love off-camera.

Amy Kaplan’s Life After ‘The Golden Bachelor’

Speaking with The New York Post, Kaplan said since “The Golden Bachelor” season 2 started airing, “my DMs are going crazy. Like anyone who I even had one remote single date with or I had a drink with.” However, she quickly clarified that she’s not only receiving correspondence from people she already knows. “Some of them are strangers … I’m a kid in a candy store,” she added.

Although Kaplan didn’t say anything bad about her time on the ABC reality show, she definitely favors real-world dating, at least she does now that her DMs are full. “I am used to men chasing me. I am the prize. They come after me,” Kaplan told The Post.

With Owens, Kaplan had told him, “‘If you want to get to know me, you come to me.’ And he did. He said he’s trainable.” Unfortunately, the two just weren’t the right fit for each other. Kaplan told The Post about a scene that didn’t make the show in which she was making turkey bacon. Owens followed her into the kitchen and asked what she was cooking, to which Kaplan replied, “‘I’m making turkey bacon,’ and I held it up, the cameramen followed me and I said, ‘Who’s a good doggie?’”

Kaplan expected Owens “to either have said, ‘ruff ruff’ and gone for the bacon strip or he would have gotten on his hands and knees and panted … but he looked at me and said, ‘What’s wrong with you?’” That’s when she knew a relationship between the two wasn’t meant to be.

“The Golden Bachelor” wasn’t Kaplan’s first time in the spotlight. Her daughters, Lexi and Allie, are TikTok stars under the moniker, The Kaplan Twins. They have over two million followers on the platform and often feature their mom in their videos. In fact, those TikTok videos helped Kaplan get cast on “The Golden Bachelor.”

“A casting director reached out to my daughters and said, ‘We need her.’ I’m like, ‘What? A reality dating show … You know what? I’m open to it. Maybe I meet the love of my life on there,’” Kaplan told The Post.

While we don’t know what’s next for Kaplan or where her life will take her, “Bachelor” Nation has options for the spunky blonde. Maybe Kaplan will appear as the next “Golden Bachelorette” or on “Bachelor In Paradise.”
